AMD 's New Omega driver didn 't work with steam?
Hi folks,

today i'm solving a problem i was fiddeling around a cuple of days.

After updating my AMD grafix-driver from fglrx-14.301.1001

to fglrx-14.501.1003 Steam wont working anymore.

Now i went back to the older driver and Steam is running fine.

Is someone knowing this prob or is it my personal fault ?

Native Steam and games did work for me when I tried. Wine was broken though, no windows games would work.

I tried on Lubuntu 14.04 and Arch a few days ago, when Catalyst Omega was released. (Used the lts kernel for arch, the driver isn't compatible with the latest one.) In both cases I used the binary installer and direct install, no package manager. The video card is a 6850, which fortunately runs much better with open source drivers.

What do you mean by Steam not working? Im having a similar issue with steam not launching games on the 14.501 driver.
Sorry GuidoRage, but this thread is old and i don't know anymore what my prob was at this time (dec 2014). Today all is running fine with KXstudio 14.04 and the binary drivers installed the "ubuntuusers.de" wiki ..... ahem way...... ehm sorry
