Steam for Linux

Best Nvidia driver to use ?
I'm running Linux Mint 19 and I installed 390.87 from ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa.
Are those the ones to go with or should I rather use the tested one from the official distri repo ?
I also consider using SteamPlay.
