Linux Mint 17.3 Nvidia Graphics Performance Optimize
Hey guys. So I've been working on getting games running on Linux.

I fired up my computer, switched the graphics to Nvidia, and fired up TF2. The game ran, but it was very choppy and would slow down in fights.

According to my computer, the Nvidia graphics are running, but the performance doesn't seem to suggest it. On Windows the game ran smoothly without a problem.

Is there something I can try to optimize performance on linux?

My graphics card is a Nvidia 640M. All help will be appreciated.

I'm not a fully Mint user but (if did it already you can skip it) did you downloaded the driver from Nvidia site (http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/98373/en-us) or from Software center but after you did that This might improve things when you start your Nvidia X server http://imgur.com/HdHswcj like this.

I hope this wil help :)

I am a mint user, just keep playing, make sure you play every map. After a map is played once it will load it, and the choppiness will go away, and the gameplay should be liquid smooth.

As for your GPU, it should have installed the proprietary drivers automatically.
