Steam does not start.... libgl
Hello guys,

I've just installed my nvidia drivers, they are recognized by the computer,
fact is now that i am trying to launch Steam, or any game it does not work anymore.
Here is what comes up while i try to launch steam :

Running Steam on ubuntu 14.04 64-bit
STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically
Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(steam)/version(0)
libGL error: No matching fbConfigs or visuals found
libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast

Thanks for the help ! :C

Which graphics card/chip do you have and which nvidia package did you install?

What do you get for (-l is small L):
dpkg-query -l nvidia* | grep ii

And if you install mesa-utils package, does the following show your nvidia card or chip and driver version:
glxinfo | grep OpenGL

I am running 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04 (originally installed as 14.04.1, so it may be a different kernel version than freshly installed 14.04.3).

Having the same issue as you but with 16.03. Did you figure it out?
