Truck headlights super bright after update
Since 1.55 update my truck headlights are very, VERY bright. The low beam illuminates so brightly it's like a huge floodlight, and it makes everything outside it look so dark you can't see anything. The high beam is a much thinner but even brighter beam. Before the lights were just fine. Now on a motorway the beam is illuminating the entire thing on both sides which is totally unrealistic. Not sure if this is part of the update or my game being weird. My mods haven't changed and I've tried it with and without them and no difference.

Did you also try a vanilla profile (no mods ever) or just deactivated some mods?
Low-beams and high-beams are perfectly fine for me after the update.
it's your game being weird. more specifically, it's your mods being weird. several lighting effects were changed or finetuned in the new game version, and as a result of that, mods may or may not work correctly. so look there first after going through https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/227300/discussions/0/591769544351121611/

Good place to start if your game is crashing and your using mods is here if no other solution's that have been stated in the thread then try the solution below hopefully will get you back on the road

you have to sell the modded part first then take them out

USING MODS

Read below hopefully will save you complaining that the game is broken

If you have mods installed then they maybe your problem below is what i do every time there is an update or i have problem's with stuttering freezing or even crashing and problems with texture and graphics and also any cargo problems

There is no easy way to work through making sure all mods are working

First make sure you have verified your files and then simple run the program in vanilla first
that's a profile which has never had any mods what so ever.

just because mod manager in the game shows green does not mean the mod is compatible. it just means it's active without checking compatibility.

simply follow the steps below if unsure

I always run a complete vanilla version which has never had any mods at all every time that a update is done or a crash happens.

Then i do a quick job to test always do a complete quick job at every stage

Then i have a second profile where i test each mod for compatibility where i can remove any that are not updated making sure to do a quick job at each stage keeping any mods active that don't cause a problem

Just add one mod at a time running a quick job for each one then leaving all mods that don't cause a crash activated do the same again always make sure that you do a quick job

Then i have a third profile which is my main game profile which is always working as the first two steps make sure everything is fine

hope this helps happy trucking
After much canoodling, it seems to be only the one truck that has this problem. All the other trucks I own and drive personally, whether mods or not, the lights are fine. Just my Scania R. It's the same with mods, without mods, and on a new game. Guess i'll just drive other trucks until this fixes itself, which it most certainly will eventually. Thanks for the responses gentlemen, and I know Wolfgang, it's *always* a mod problem :)
I had a similar issue with my Volvo. I do like that night is now properly dark outside of my light cone, though I do wish it hadn't come at the cost of attaching a friggin' sun gun to the front of my truck.

Just took a Scania R and a Renault T (for comparision) for a ride at night on a brand new vanilla profile.
The headlights of the Scania R are a bit brighter, but I don't see anything unusual here.
All settings at max, scaling at 200%.

Not for me, all good
slightly brighter here (at least with HDR and ACR enabled) on the R
with HDR and without ACR it's the same as other vehicles
