Serious Sam Classics: Revolution

Serious Sam Classics: Revolution

OpenAL Implementation?
Will OpenAL ever be worked into Revolution? It would make a nice alternative to the EAX option for HTRF surround sound and EFX, pretty much like in Fusion.

OpenAL Soft is another idea for those who don't own Creative sound cards.

Sorry to bump this year-old topic, but there is a way to get OpenAL Soft into Serious Sam Classic. It's a wrapper called DSOAL that works with any game that uses DirectSound3D or EAX.

Unfortunately, Serious Sam Classics doesn't use 3D positional audio so you'll only get the EAX reverb back. You'll want to change the alsoft.ini to read "hrtf=true" if you want to use it in other games, though.

Also, Fusion doesn't support HRTF either. Only the vanilla versions of TFE/TSE HD and SS3 support HRTF.

I think the bright island levels are too difficult with enemies spawning in from every direction and only 1 audio channel. Had to throw in the towel.

Nice thread revival there.
