[GUIDE] Adding Debug Mode for 2.0
For those who may have had the game uninstalled until recently (owing to the new DLC), the old Baldur.ini file has been changed to Baldur.lua, this post will show you where and how to include the command to enable Debug Mode. It's more or less the same, but format is different.

Anyone who has done this manually before probably would have been able to guess it was this, but this is strictly for those who didn't/were confused by new strings. It's better than the weird SQL database layout EE had initially.

1. Open Baldur.lua (Notepad++, etc will do this)
2. Add the following line: SetPrivateProfileString('Program Options','Debug Mode','1')
3. Start Game
4. CTRL+Space Console hype :D (with convenient inbuilt mechanisms (gold, xp, travel)).

This works! Thanks!

The debug console command is still CTRL+Space though for me.

There is one problem. I cannot enter cheat codes manually. There are buttons to get a God Bow, money and exp but Anytime I enter codes from various online sources for the game I get either "nil value" or some other error about "characters to close to AMUL01" or some such drivel.

I copied your comment from the other page. Might be nice to start the 2.0 version in a new thread that starts with a spiffy guide.

Only thing I picked up that changed was that 'CLUAConsole:<item>' is now 'C:<item>'.

What line should you add the "SetPrivateProfileString('Program Options','Debug Mode','1')" line?

I'm not sure it matters. Make sure though you've closed the game completely before editing and saving the lua, otherwise it won't work.

It doesn't really matter, but for the sake of cleanliness, it would be best to put a new line after the last Program Options entry and add it there.
Debug mode seems active but the console won't come up with Ctrl+Space or Ctrl+J

There could be some improvements in those steps...

1. Create a backup of the Baldur.lua located in the Documents\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition folder before making any changes

2. Open Baldur.lua (Notepad is built in and is fine. Other options include Notepad++ and Sublime text editors)

3. Add the following line to the end of the Balder.lua file: SetPrivateProfileString('Program Options','Debug Mode','1')

4. Start Game

5. CTRL+Space Bar

After you close the game and check your baldur.lua again, is the line for debug mode still there?
Its not at the bottom where i added it but its still there.

The line was accepted and you should see the console with ctrl-space. Are you actually running a new or saved game and are in the main screen? or are you in one of the menus?
Loaded a save game, with no menus open.

Ok, it should just work, going by your baldur.lua. Are you running 2.0 at the moment or did you go back to 1.3 perhaps?

Or, do you see something happening when you use ctrl-j? Your characters should move to your cursor location with that one.

Have you remapped keys that include the space?
They do jump to cursor with Ctrl+J and i havent remapped Space, I'm also using 2.0. Space pauses the game when used on its own.

That is all working correctly then. Hm. I can't think of anything else at the moment. To verify, you see absolutely no difference in your screen with ctrl-space?
Nothing, it even seems to know not to pause the game.

Could Dragonspear make any difference?
