Would that work for multiplayer mode by any chance? I've been loking for ages for a way to bring Quartermain's revolver back as it's the last gun required for the "Gunsmith" achievement. As long as the gun's out of the game, the achievement is unobtainable by any legitimate means.
I can create a regular private server just fine though, and the game is entirely P2P, so I'd assume if someone else was searching at the same time (and was also on the same patch) it'd match them together.
Which one exactly is Quatermain's revolver? The Webley Mk. VI? Was that one removed from multiplayer in the final patch? Because I know it's still in the campaign..
When creating a class on the downgraded version, these are the pistols I can choose from:
C-96, P-08, M1907, Mk. VI, Mars, TT-33, VIS wz.35, P-38, and the SLD.
Now I just have to wait for the servers to be up again, which should happen within the next couple of weeks as they work on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off schedule, and get a teammate to test it out.
Here's an Imgur link showing exactly what I meant: https://imgur.com/a/vxcZLw1
Even if it wouldn't work out in the end, which I highly doubt it wouldn't, many thanks regardless!
EDIT: I just found 4 more "new" primary weapons. That makes 6 removed MP guns in total.
Here's what you wanna do to get it to work yourself:
1. Install Zach Fett's downgraded version.
2. Lauch the game, go to custom classes, select all 6 guns as prefered weapon loadouts and save the changes.
3. Exit the game, right click on it in your Steam library, go to properties, and verify the game's cache to update the game.
Step 3 is crucial as it allows you to run the current version of the game while having access to the removed guns since you still have them saved in your custom loadouts. If you skip it, you won't be able to connect to public MP servers. It's worth noting that if you try and switch a removed gun to any other weapon in the game while running updated version and save the loadout, that weapon will fall into the abyss and you'd have to do the whole procedure again in order to bring it back.
I was planning to drop an update in this discussion once I'm done with the grind regardless, so it's totally fine if you'd like to wait for me to finish before attempting it yourself. Just keep in mind that it'll take a while since the servers aren't always working and either me or my teammate might be busy with other things when they do. We aren't really rushing it.
I haven’t had any luck with the achievement for maxing out all the guns so far. Although, I haven’t tried every depot there is - only the oldest one I could find. Maybe I’ll get around to try a few more older depots with a friend soon, maybe I won’t, not sure as of yet. Back then, I was already kinda done with the game, so I basically gave up after the depot thing didn’t yield any fruit.
However, surprisingly, the depot trick does work if you wanna get the “There can only be one” achievement (winning 10 games of LMS), but you need a friend with the same downgraded version of the game for it to work. I don’t know how and why, but Last Man Standing actually works just fine on the older version, whereas on the current one it always gives you a “server offline” error when you try to queue for a match.
why did the developer did this?
PS: I would appreciate it if someone could provide insider info about the mystery around removed content in patch 2 and the reasons for this weird and unexplained downgrade of the game experience.
