How to downgrade and bring back the removed weapons!
I finally sat down and spent the time to figure out which patch was the one that made questionable small changes to the campaign and removed a bunch of weapons.

If you want to revert to this patch, I've written up a short guide that explains how to do so, it's pretty easy: :servbothappy:

Would that work for multiplayer mode by any chance? I've been loking for ages for a way to bring Quartermain's revolver back as it's the last gun required for the "Gunsmith" achievement. As long as the gun's out of the game, the achievement is unobtainable by any legitimate means.

Not sure, since you can only unlock achievements in Ranked games and I can't test that. It just tells me it couldn't find any matches and kicks me back to the main menu.

I can create a regular private server just fine though, and the game is entirely P2P, so I'd assume if someone else was searching at the same time (and was also on the same patch) it'd match them together.

Which one exactly is Quatermain's revolver? The Webley Mk. VI? Was that one removed from multiplayer in the final patch? Because I know it's still in the campaign..

When creating a class on the downgraded version, these are the pistols I can choose from:
C-96, P-08, M1907, Mk. VI, Mars, TT-33, VIS wz.35, P-38, and the SLD.

OMG man you're a legend! I had to enable Digital Deluxe features for the game in my Steam library after installing your downgraded version (had them disabled for whatever reason) and I have the guns now. Apparently, there were 2 removed, not just the revolver. The guns wouldn't appear without me tickling that box since they're supposed to be part of the DLC.
Now I just have to wait for the servers to be up again, which should happen within the next couple of weeks as they work on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off schedule, and get a teammate to test it out.
Here's an Imgur link showing exactly what I meant: https://imgur.com/a/vxcZLw1
Even if it wouldn't work out in the end, which I highly doubt it wouldn't, many thanks regardless!

EDIT: I just found 4 more "new" primary weapons. That makes 6 removed MP guns in total.

Let me know if it works for the online achievement

Yes, I was able to make it work and it does seem to count progress for those guns just fine lol. At the time of writing this, I'm only ~300 or so kills deep, still have about 2700 to go, so I can't confirm if it makes the achievement pop or not.

Here's what you wanna do to get it to work yourself:
1. Install Zach Fett's downgraded version.
2. Lauch the game, go to custom classes, select all 6 guns as prefered weapon loadouts and save the changes.
3. Exit the game, right click on it in your Steam library, go to properties, and verify the game's cache to update the game.

Step 3 is crucial as it allows you to run the current version of the game while having access to the removed guns since you still have them saved in your custom loadouts. If you skip it, you won't be able to connect to public MP servers. It's worth noting that if you try and switch a removed gun to any other weapon in the game while running updated version and save the loadout, that weapon will fall into the abyss and you'd have to do the whole procedure again in order to bring it back.

I was planning to drop an update in this discussion once I'm done with the grind regardless, so it's totally fine if you'd like to wait for me to finish before attempting it yourself. Just keep in mind that it'll take a while since the servers aren't always working and either me or my teammate might be busy with other things when they do. We aren't really rushing it.

Update: I was able to successfully max out all the guns in the game, but the achievement didn't pop. No luck so far. However, I'll try to install the very 1st version of the game following Zach's guide later on, since I heard that it's what might make it pop in the end. Will drop an update in the discussion once it's done, regardless of the result.

A little bit of a necro but did you manage to get any progress on that?

That’s okay. It looks like I promised to post an update, but never did. Oopsie.
I haven’t had any luck with the achievement for maxing out all the guns so far. Although, I haven’t tried every depot there is - only the oldest one I could find. Maybe I’ll get around to try a few more older depots with a friend soon, maybe I won’t, not sure as of yet. Back then, I was already kinda done with the game, so I basically gave up after the depot thing didn’t yield any fruit.
However, surprisingly, the depot trick does work if you wanna get the “There can only be one” achievement (winning 10 games of LMS), but you need a friend with the same downgraded version of the game for it to work. I don’t know how and why, but Last Man Standing actually works just fine on the older version, whereas on the current one it always gives you a “server offline” error when you try to queue for a match.

Well at least, all of this wasn't for nothing, that's good. Thanks for the reply.

OP undersold how integral his downgrade is. This restores weapons, entire cutscenes, dialogue, enemies, gameplay, all just in the first hour of the campaign alone. It's funny, I came to the Discussions to see if there was ever a point in the game's history when the swastikas on the bad guys weren't censored, and tried out his downgrade to see if that would add them back in. It didn't, apparently the X's were there from the game's release, but instead I got back so much more that had been foolishly ripped from the game. A big thanks to the OP for this.

wow... I never heard of these "cuts"

why did the developer did this?

I have the same question, I just got this game and discovered that in patch 2 they removed lots of weapons and changed gameplay by removing some of puzzles and cutscenes. Like at the very beginning they remove the whole section where you have to blow up a fallen statue to clear your path to the temple. And with this change they also removed a funny cutscene following the explosion. No explanation was given as I see it for these changes. They have mentioned that they are working on a bigger update after patch 2, which never materialized. My personal opinion is that they were working on gameplay and weapon changes and patch 2 was planned as an intermediate patch until they finish the final patch. But after patch 2 they stopped working on the game altogether (maybe because bad reviews / sales) and it was left hanging with unfinished patch. So, here we have now half-patched game with cut out content. My advice is to roll back to patch 1 for the best experience and ignore patch 2 altogether.

PS: I would appreciate it if someone could provide insider info about the mystery around removed content in patch 2 and the reasons for this weird and unexplained downgrade of the game experience.
