Those first two critical hours
Hi, I made some quick notes for anyone wondering before downloading 7.8GB : )
First as others have said it is a multiplayer weekend you can play single player but it stops after it reaches the next major story point.

Pros:
Nice graphics production, cool Indiana style pre WWII adventure, think old school Saturday matinee theater

Lighting and graphics are generally solid

Voice acting is in semi campy adventure style which fits pretty well

I can see a neat adventure story building and it does peak my interest some.

Cons:
View controls acceleration is *really* annoying and I have not found a way to turn it off. I tried the One control slider offered – sensitivity and it only makes it worse. Such a bad idea, suddenly ramping up the speed when precision movement is required because this is an FPS not a point and click adventure.

I used a 360 gaming pad and it worked ok but there is no mouse keyboard pickup, once the controller is detected it ignores the other interfaces.

Exchanging your pistols for ones on the ground, your previous guns just disappear so there is no way to switch them back!

Animation is jerky, twitchy and the scaling is off, some characters look like they suffer from dwarfism with thick forearms etc.

Also there is no way to turn off the head bob weave animation so that may cause motion sickness for some people.

There is No Way to control you game saves, all are auto quick save points and some of them cause you to back track a bit. : (

He can’t swim, yup drowns instantly when falling into water. I figured that would be a requirement for an explorer as water is in many places or at least learned how to dog paddle early in his career.

Overall I feel I can see what they were trying to accomplish, a grand adventure. Unfortunately too many places take control options, features away from the player when they should be celebrated. It is currently as of this post 50%. That might be low enough cost for point of entry for a nice Saturday matinee style adventure.

I really wanted to like this game but I feel there are too many quality of life drawbacks that hold down what could be a great title to add to our libraries.

Thank you for your input and the time spent writing it, I'm sure many people will appreciate it. There are however two things that I would like to explain.

In order to play with mouse and keyboard with the pad plugged in, you have to go into the control options and press "Disable Gamepad UI". If you wish to use the gamepad afterwards, simply press the button in the same place, it should say "Switch to Gamepad UI". This option is only visible if you have the controller plugged in.

This happens when your previous pistols were the default ones, with infite ammunition. It is because they are weaker than any other kind of pistols that you can have. This does not happen when you switch any other kind of pistols, you will drop the previous ones on the ground. Once you use up all the amunition in your current pistols, the default ones will show up again.

Hi, thank you for the response and clearing those items up : )

It is an OK game, and really appreciate the Quatermain storyline, but downloading 8GB, because steam said "free weekend" instead of "demo weekend" seems like a big letdown.
Good luck with your game!

Another annoying thing is the lack to upgrade to deluxe edition

Just tried multiplayer ... wow, quite bad.
There is no lagg compensation, or any limit on how big your, or the enemys ping can be, just warping around.
Also multiplayer achievements not unlocking, and that one single player map for 8GB wow, this "free" weekend was a misfire.

Here's how to deactivate head bob and controller acceleration:

- Go to C:\Users\*********\Documents\My Games\Deadfall Adventures\ADVGame\Config

- In ADVGame.ini look up [EvilGame.UTPawn] and set value as follows:
Bob=0.00

- Save file

- Open ADVInput.ini

- Look for [ADVGame.AdvPlayerInput]

- Set values as follows:
bViewAccelerationEnabled=False

- Also you can remove the horrible deadzone of the right stick by setting the deadzone values in these lines to 0.1. Also set aLookup Speed to 1.00 and -1.0 (for inverted) to look up as fast as you look left and right. You'll find them at the end of the file also under [ADVGame.AdvPlayerInput]:

Bindings=(Name="GBA_TurnLeft_Gamepad",Command="Axis aTurn Speed=1.0 DeadZone=0.3",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,bIgnoreCtrl=False,bIgnoreShift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)
Bindings=(Name="GBA_Look_Gamepad_Invert",Command="Axis aLookup Speed=-0.65 DeadZone=0.3",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,bIgnoreCtrl=False,bIgnoreShift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)
Bindings=(Name="GBA_Look_Gamepad",Command="Axis aLookup Speed=0.65 DeadZone=0.3",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,bIgnoreCtrl=False,bIgnoreShift=False,bIgnoreAlt=False)

- Save file

It's not perfect, but it plays way better this way with the Xbox One Controller for me.
