British Universal Carrier is Broken Early Game
Early on there is just no counter to it.. 1v1s are especially hard.. they drive right into your side of the map and follow you around while you're trying to pick up early captures. Can't do a thing about it except wait for panzerfausts or shreks but by then you're already at such a disadvantage. 3v3 and 4v4 are so hard too because multiple players mass around it. Everyone just masses around the invincible carrier...it's literally a mini-tank early on because "shoot-only" units can't damage it.. it can out maneuver MGs which are the only soft counter to it.. still takes 4-5 sprays to destroy it. At least with other factions early vehicles halftracks, the clown car, jeeps, wagon they all take damage from regular units shooting at it. With the carrier you have no luck, plus it has a built in MG to top it all off... and early flamethrower to dislodge out of buildings. Just really breaks the early game. You can't critique it though because British mains and CoH2 fanboys who somehow think this game is balanced and perfect will swarm on you. They treat it like a religion. :retreat:

Cool

yeah I think the kubel needs nerfing

fight it in cover

the thing is that the UC is vulnerable to small arms fire just like kubel and M3A1

its not you just lack skill and the ability to think ahead when it comes to facing it, two filesquads will kill it easy

for wehr 222 kills it, for okw luchs. no problems
Problem is that it has more armor (6(front)/4(rear)) than any other early LV such as Kubel (front 3,1/rear 1.9) or M3A1 (front 3.8/rear3.5) while also being significantly cheaper at 260 and 5 fuel. Not to mention that its MG has far better pen, damage and accuracy in comparison to LV of the same category bar the M3. Infantry has a 17,2% chance to pen the UC, so even if the infantry is in cover, the chance to kill it or damage it sufficiently is rather low, especially due to facing off against Sections.

Edit: Edited the armor value of the UC according to the Better Info Mod from 5.8 front/ 4.1 rear to 6 front and 4 rear. This in turn makes it even better than the 221 combat wise as the 221 costs more, has less damage potential and less armor with 5.4 front and 4 rear (only improved with vet).

Odd, every time I play with UC it suddenly decides to melee the enemy squad and my 5 fuel 260 mp are gone

No, UC should never be nerfed. Or else, they should nerf Kubelwagen too. I tried Wehrmacht few times, never took me too long before teching up. At least they get Panzerfaust as soon as they tech up. Allies have to buy additional upgrade. UC also gets shredded by MG in a second if caught

For most units you can only highlight their strengths and then pretend they are "OP".
UC is 260 mp, cannot cap, requires 60 or 75 ammo for weapon upgrade and provides no utility short of the suppression ability. It cannot see far enough to spot AT guns, even with vet.
Sure it has nice damage at range and it does well at punishing units (especially mgs) out of cover, but again: IT CANNOT CAP. And it takes longer to build than units that can cap. So your losing capping power twofold.
As for counters: As Wehrmacht it's grens and mg for dmg and once 222 is out UC has to be mighty careful. For okw you are the only faction with immediate access to AT gun or you can go panzerfusiliers for AT grenade with longer range and not needing tech. 221 will lose vs UC with mg, but 223 will win and 221/3 provides far more utility than UC so complaining that it doesn't wreck it in combat despite being more expensive is just dumb.

UC has its place to help stall for higher CP units (namely commandos) and as a counter to short range inf or snipers. nerfing it would take key early game mobilty from the brits, something they already lack. Why do you think the brits are played so little? If they were truly OP people would play them more. As it stands they can be great but they also have some exploitable weaknesses, especially in the early game, hurting them the most in 1v1.
UC requires insane micro to be op even in early game. Keeping in mind how much it loves to rotate and stuck everywhere...
