Modifier key for sculpting/powers/etc
I think it would be a great idea to have a modifier key (I'll be using shift for the examples) to enable sculpting or powers to act differently. (as an option, people who use touch might want it differently). For example:

Sculpting - Without holding shift, you'd just sculpt a single layer. But when holding shift it would act the very same way that selecting the multi-layer sculpting card. So you could easily switch on the fly.

Hand of God - Without holding shift, finger of god never squishes your own followers/abodes/settlements (thus you can never accidently kill your own people or abodes) but would still squish your enemies abodes/followers. Trees would still be squished. With shift, you can squish your own followers/abodes/settlements.

Abodes/Settlements - Without holding shift, belief would still be collected on a click and miners/farmers/builders/archers would still be sent out on a click. (just as it is now) but holding shift lets you see the information about the abode/settlement (I don't know how many times I've accidently sent out people when I just wanted to look at the info)

Leashing Archers - Without holding shift leashing would work just as it does now. If you hold shift and leash an archer to a specific location then the archer will patrol within a radius of where you leashed it.

Leashing Miners - Without holding shift, leashing would work as normal. When holding shift however, the miner never tries to builld a new mine but instead tries to mine gems (with the appropriate card unlocked). If no gems are present, the miner will go back to the miners settlement.

I'm sure there are other alot of things a modifier key can be used for. You could also have it being a toggle of some sort as button in the interface and/or a toggle key
