Roll back sculpting to how it was, before the cliff sculpt card needs to be active
this implementation sucks, having to drill into a menu to select a card for sculpting just because you wanted to add that to the upgrades for gems mechanic is poor, please give us the method before. Where depending on what layer I pulled and layer card I had unlocked powered sculpting.

Alternatively:

Improve sculpting in general so that a rolled back version would provide the nuanced sculpting capabilities desired without making it cumbersome as it is now.

Always room for improvements - agreed the mouse wheel brush area from editor would be nice.

Yeah, the whole thing needs serious revision. It does seem to have gotten progressively worse during 2014, just so that they can nickle and dime for gems/cards/sticker. Whilst the actual performance of sculpting (the smoothness and scope of the push and pull) was significantly improved since version 1.3, all the features have been made worse or deleted all together :/
I mentioned as soon as I noticed it, just how bad having to delve into a menu to switch sculpting tools was and apparently the "feedback was noted" so I don't know. It's very hard to trust 22Cans when they make changes like that, which are obviously only done to get cash from mobile users. but make the overall experience worse for PC users.

Worse thing about it was either the mods or a canner defended it with "it stops accidental sculpting" in my opinion that was a load of bull.

Fabs mentioned something about removing f2p elements from the PC in his secret work, so maybe this was one of them, one can only hope.

BTW DJ you seen my custom world tweaks I created?

I couldn't fix sculpting but manage to adjust other mechanics!

To be fair, he's right for the wrong reasons. He's right that you "couldn't switch between levels of sculpting" and all that, but I'm pretty sure the underlying reason for the change was more along the lines of mobile users' requests (and perhaps even some users here, which conveniently overlapped enough to justify the change).

On mobile, not being able to switch was causing lots of headaches for users and that was a simple enough "fix" that they could try to defend on PC as an improvement (as Dave did).

I can't quote anybody else but I have no problem with sculpting on iOS it is currently still working the old way (no card required). Zoom in level say 3rd level and pull that out.

They added it to a menu for PC builds so they could make it gem upgrable, maybe testing it for mobile audience? do they have the card required on android yet?

It doesn't add anything as you can't toggle, it's 1 level without the card or your current level upgrade with the card active. But it now means you can do anything else while multilevel sculpting.

The sculpting menu hasn't been implemented into the mobile version, as it stands it's a PC only feature and tbh, I'm not even sure that will be moved over the mobile version. I wouldn't say I was defending the feature, just giving my personal opinion.

I'm happy to bring this up with the team see if they'll consider redefining this feature.

Thanks, just personally I find it extremely unintuitive, its fine to allow gems (if we are still to have them) to upgrade in a menu, but the fact you need the card active is pointless.
