Is there anyway of changing the on screen prompts for controls to not be for an xbox controller?

Yes, unplug your controller so that it only recognizes keyboard. Or change it in option menu under key configuration.

I don't have a controller plugged in and made sure keyboard was selected but still showing controller buttons.
