I want to like this game but.... (Created: May 21, 2014)
This game is a pay2win. You have to use a crazy amount of souls just to repair let alone buy a new weapon. I found a good weapon and it came almost broken then cost over 2k souls to repair. I do not mind charging for new weapos, but to repair as well is crazy. This game is 100% pay2win and a great example of how not to make your payment model. It will fail for this reason.

I'm somewhat inclined to agree.
Of what I saw during the 2-3 hours I spent last night, there is nothing in the game that you can only get by paying money, everything is based on souls which you earn by playing. But the repair costs are just through the roof!

i also agree. i try to hang onto every soul i can to buy the expensive stuff, but as i get souls, i lvl up. and the shop gets updated with higher level stuff thats even more expensive. its like a cruel joke, the more money i try to make, the more i have to pay.
I've heard many people bring this up, I'm not sure how much of this is overexaggeration and I'm not sure how many souls 2000 is. But changing the prices of repairs is something that sounds very easily done if enough people speak up about it. I'm aware F2P developers need to make enough money to feed themselves firstly but it's not good for the design of the game or public relations if you're encouraged to buy souls for the simple fact you feel like you have to or in very bad situations if you actually have to.

People should want to buy souls if they like the game but want to get through it a bit faster for convenience sake. And I suggest they put some cosmetic items that don't change your stats in there as well. I have all the sympathy in the world for free to play developers with good intentions that don't make enough money with their f2p games. There is a line you have to not cross, though and it's better to be further away from that line than closer.

Yeah the repair amount vs soul income is a bit insane here...
Do you guys use gear protection boosts at all? Also, have you used the Forge in the Sanctum to repair your gear?

The gear protection boost costs 10000 souls and lasts 30 minutes, that hardly seems worth it.
The forge repairs gear at 2% per hour from what I can see? That is seriously weak! I had to repair the same weapon 2-3 times in one session. Same with boots and gloves. Are we really expected to play for 1-2 hours, then repair our gear for 20?
The fact that new gear you find is usually around 10-20% durability is pretty ridicilous as well.

I don't mind the prizes for buying gear, the combat is fun and responsive enough that I don't mind grinding a bit, or even spending a few bucks on souls. But either the durability loss or the cost to repair definitely need some tweaking.

Yea I don't understand why gear we find is already at critical condition forcing us to repair it on the spot.
I also assuming you guys are constantly using block to mitigate the damage your armor takes from combat as well?

Yes, blocking is kind of integral. I try to keep things stunlocked so they can't hit me and use the dash as much as possible to dodge attacks rather than block, but sometimes you just gotta gird your loins, stand your ground and block.

I've been playing third person character action games (a mouthful I know, but that's how I would classify this game, at least gameplay wise) for a good long time. The fighting system in your game is very robust and feels pretty damn good. Could do with a few more combo variations perhaps, other than X number of light, finish with heavy, but hey, it's better than Dynasty Warriors for example, so can't complain. Especially the combo mechanics feel good, being able to seamlessly finnish a combo with a spell for example.

However, the gear degradation is just too quick. It feels like your armour is falling to pieces around you.

Btw, please PLEASE don't remove the ability blocking has to cancel most if not all animations. It makes the combat so nice and flowing when you can just cancel a combo and dash away by just blocking. I don't care if it's intended or not, this is by far one of my favourite things about the combat system. It would be pretty damn hard to beat ogres without it as well, without resorting to just kiting them and waiting for my fireball cooldown.
Is your gear white, green or purple? That also greatly determines the rate of decay. Common breaks much quicker (White), while purple is much more durable.

Mixed bag of whites and blues.
I found a purple armour at the end of last nights session, major upgrade, but I can't use it yet, because I found it at 10% durability and the repair cost is over 2000 souls, which is more than I had in my pocket after the 3rd round of having repair all my gear to not be naked.

The repair prices are outrageous, so basically dont block and get hit or run around like a chicken with its head cut off just so your gear dosent decay.... Yea sounds like a great idea, or people could just stop playing all together... Really hope the devs listen to the community, cause dont see the game lasting long...Would be a shame cause as i stated before really like the game.
I don't understand why the devs couldn't of released the game on the market, the P2W is too strong.... Oh yeah I forgot greedy people exist in this world XD

I don't think the repair costs are too bad and whether the game is pay to win or not is a matter of opinion - I think game is easily playable without paying, you can get everything you need through normal play.

The game is free and in BETA. We are working with community to improve the game over time. These types of things are expected.
