Forgotten One boss sucks and has bad design
Sorry to say this, but this boss has ruined the whole game for me.

Spams AoE attacks, extremely small attack windows, hits like a truck already on second difficulty, no savepoint before the three spears (have fun with KB+M). So cheap. So bad. So unfun. Devs should be ashamed of this abomination of a boss fight!

agree. the game establishes mechanics and follows them and then at the end you have a boss that ignores all your damage negation techniques aside from spacing, punishes comboing, does not give mana (1 sphere per hit is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) while it is the only way to regain HP and takes damage only at weakpoints that can't be reached unless you get stuck in some animation. my worst experience since queen of valkuries in new GoW which suffers from the same issues

agreed, it really feels rushed and I wish we got a colossus style boss fight instead.

Disagree. It's a good final boss.

Only has two close area of damage attacks (a single spike and summoned boulder), which you can easily anticipate and run out of the area. Other areal (multiple spikes, chained boulder) can be out-sprinted.

Precise attacks (claws, swords, chains) are simple to dodge by placing yourself to either sides or head to head (when double sword pattern kicks in).

Moreover, you have two (!) checkpoints. Two, guys.
Furthermore, there's nothing after 3rd stage. :awkward:
We have lava rocks after 1st. We get three spears after 2nd. After 3rd... nothing. Not even a single QTE sequence.
I was preparing myself for remembering what to do next time (thought I'd die after 3rd stage), but... comics video started playing and I was like... "that's it?".

Firstly, I'm playing with kb+m, and it's absolutely fine.
Secondly, I quickly ran through your games and noticed you've beaten Elden Ring with all achievements. I don't believe that Castlevania's last boss is harder than Elden Ring. :)

absolutely agree. It establishes that the way to get around AOE attacks is to jump over them, and then throws that out of the window here while also not giving any good options to maneuver midair. It made the last few minutes of the game immensely unsatisfying, especially with that..."ending." Establishing a formula and then completely disregarding it is not "clever" or "amazing" but bad game design, and a good final boss would instead test the skills you learned throughout the game, instead of making you throw them out of the window.
Satan was a better final boss ffs. At least his magic circles were interesting and had a clear answer to them. Meanwhile, the forgotten one is punishing you for using air attacks against him despite that being the only way you can damage him.
I like to do a run on each difficulty so I can master it at my own pace, but I think im going to drop that idea here.
I'm pretty sure the hitbox on some of his sword attacks are broken too.

The boss is not exactly hard, at least not as hard as how I remembered back in 2010-2011. It just requires patience. There is one slam attack he does that leaves him wide open for a few seconds. Just wait for that attack and you can easily defeat him in any difficulty. However, that still doesn't change the fact that the design is bad, I agree.

The only other boss in the LoS games that is on par with this boss is Satan/Alucard in LoS2, but for a different reason. The character design is so blended in with the background that you can hardly see the statup animations of his attacks. Whats funny is that pretty much all the LoS MoF bosses are fun and enjoyable.

Elden Ring is the easiest of all original Miazaki soulslikes. Most user friendly, and has most content with builds, items locations and community to help with advice or in coop.
While in DS most of the time all help you get - is the "git gud"©, "scrub" and so on

The truth is that it was fun for me, it's just following the pattern he has, I defeated him for the first time in titan difficulty starting with 15% of my health bar.
The trick is to run in circles around him and when he makes an attack, get close quickly and make a combo of 3 or 4 hits and retreat because he will try to push you away. If you keep a close distance he will use his sword and that is annoying so keep a distance out of his short attack range.

well, just finished the trials, killing 16 skeletons before finishing the Forgotten one. Some advices - max out EVERYTHING before the fight, all 3 bars with gems, all secondary weapons. Use Cyclone boots to move across the arena, with their speed you can bait his range attacks (stone on the chain and exploding cones) - they are VERY unsafe for him and could be punished with 3-4-5 hits EVERY TIME. Never stand in close distance, like near his feet, because his sweep requires very precise timing and reaction. When i played this game on release he seemed to be hard, but now... not even paladin made him somewhat strong, unfortunately
The game is great, one of a few that held up extremely well and are perfect for Steam Deck. But pretty much all the boss fights in this game are bad and unsatisfying. I never noticed how buggy the aerial combat is until this last boss fight. The Forgotten One is just cheesy all around. The last time I played this game I got to the same part and remember how it basically ruined the whole experience for me.

And he has a horrible/poor design. SOTN has an awesome forgotten one. End game content, shame on you.
you just need to get good, he was designed to be overpowered, he has that name for a reason
Baiting him from a distance to do long range attacks, then closing in on him with a combo and retreating after seemed to do the trick. You basically repeat this, and get used to double tapping the left stick for the cyclone boots.

yeah, just fought him for the first time ever and he sucks. incredibly bad hitboxes on his attacks that put old monster hunter to shame, incredibly tiny areas for you to attack to actually hit him, no blockable attacks at all, no fountain or magic statue between the boss fights and in general really clunky controlls sometimes (for some reason gabriel often refuses to simply use his boots to run) makes the last quarter of the game (dlc included) really bad and unfun.

The key to fighting him is mastering use of the Stomp move. This is a move you start with but have almost no need to ever use outside of this boss fight, so it's easy to forget that it exists. The ability to immediately land when you want to makes dodging his attacks much easier, though it's still a tough fight.

SotN doesn't have the Forgotten One as a boss. Are you talking about Galamoth?
