How do I delete the save file for this on Steam Deck?
I already have cloud saves turned off

I understand it's possible from the desktop view, but I don't understand where the save files are stored? I was able to get to the folder with the games steam app ID but I'm not sure where to go from there? A tutorial video I watched showcased a folder called documents but there's nothing like that in my folder. there is an icon called my documents but the program doesn't understand how to open it.

Please help me. I need a step-by-step guide and the exact name of the actual file I need to find and delete. I don't want to install this on my computer as our internet connection is pretty slow.

Assuming you are on SteamOS, Windows games are "emulated" with Proton, which kinda creates a fake Windows filesystem that the game can use for its files, like installing directx or, in this case, storing the saves; if you delete that filesystem, the saves are deleted.

If you go to the game on Steam and make the options list appear (the small window with play, add to collection, properties, etc), there should be an option "developer->delete proton files" which does exactly that. Basically, you can use it to delete the local saves of games that are not being played as native Linux versions.

This doesn't work, I just tried it with cloud saves disabled, and it loads the same save file from years ago when I booted up. It has to be done through desktop view. I just need the file's location, it's name and file extension. if I can find it, I can remove it. The problem is I can't find it.

I figured it out

The path to the file is:

/home/deck/ . local/share/Steam/userdata/101092353/234080/remote/

I deleted both files there and lauched the game and got the newgame option. I then re-enabled steam cloud, got the file conflict notice for steam cloud on the game's launch page, then selected the local save option so it overwrote my old save file with the fresh one.

I know this game is notorious for not having a way to easily delete saves, but I could have never imagined how much worse it could get on steam deck

Yeah, forget what I said, I had personally tested it and found games in which this works (eg. Gato Roboto), but I just tried again with a few more games and found some in which it doesn't, not only games with cloud saves like this one, but even without.

Do you guys know how to get a new game going from regular windows pc?
Not Steam Deck. I can't find the actual save file anywhere on my pc, and I want to start fresh but I've got a save file right at the Stone Titan or whatever with no way to delete it.

This did not work for me. It's still apparently reading the data that shouldn't exist for some reason.
I'm new to steam deck and can't find how to delete a game file to start a new save
I have a game that saved "Controller input to OFF" as it required the analogs to select it and the analog was twitchy, i was trying to enter Input info, and the checkbox moved thanks to analog bounce, to controller input OFF. the game is now broken FOREVER. even if i un and re install it!! because no inputs effect the game in any way now!

DELETE SAVE DATA should be an option from the properties management window of your games. This is the stupidest thing of steam deck i swear.
