I wouldn't use any launch commands to start with - you can specify fullscreen/windowed in-game when it's loading correctly.

Black screen means an issue on your side, I would suggest turning off all external overlays and things that modify games (discord, streaming, obs, overwolf etc) - perhaps close all programs and work backwards from there.

I didn't use launch commands anymore.
I disabled Discord and Steam overlays.
No other program is open.
Still doesn't work :(

Yea i realised haha, here is fine! Unfortunately you're the only frog so far to have this issue, so it's definitely something in your setup but I couldn't tell you what.

What OS / version are you on? Are all your graphics drivers up to date?

drivers are up to date, Windows Update says i'm up to date.

Microsoft Windows 10 Pro

No other program is open - I checked Task Manager to see if any other program is running in the background. Discord and Opera gX are all closed. No OBS or streaming apps either

Hmm not sure what else to suggest them I'm afraid - did you have any previous saves/settings from before, or is this first time playing? If you do you could try clearing it, as save data persists after uninstalling, you'd have to turn steam cloud off too.

Otherwise not really sure what the issue is, you could try a different machine if you have one!

I'm so sad :( I really want to play.
I never played before. Not even the demo. Had my bf help me check local Steam folder for any remnant files, none whatsoever.
I don't have any other PC I could check it with.

I also turned off steam cloud.

Not sure if this is significant, but I can't launch the game in full screen mode even with launch option. And once launched, I can't switch to full screen with Alt+Enter either. My mouse also disappears within the black screen, but I can hear it click when I hit a clickable spot.

I mentioned before but you shouldn't be using any launch commands to run the game, you should just leave it as is - you can specify fullscreen/windowed with the in-game settings. I don't think that would make a difference but worth not adding anything not needed while you're troubleshooting

Yes! dont worry i only did this as one of many trials (all without launch commands). it was a suggestion from my bf who was also helping out. he just told me to tell you just in case.

we did everything we could think of. i even disabled my animated wallpaper. i downloaded the demo through steam and itch.io.

UPDATE AS OF JUNE 25, 2025

A FRIEND FOUND A FIX!

I changed my monitor resolution from 1920 x 1080 px to 1280 x 1024 px.

And then the game freaking RUNS.

Then I was told to turn off VSync and enable fullscreen.

And then restarted the game, and it runs perfectly with or without Vsync, fullscreen or bordered.
