Opening steam interface when playing non-steam games.
Yes I've asked elsewhere. Yes I know this is the off-topic section of Vermintide. Nothing useful? ♥♥♥♥ off. Anything useful? Very welcomed.

Right. So just wondering is there any way to open the steam interface in a game that you don't play through steam e.g. for instance I have Far Cry Primal which I play through Ubisofts own equivilent of steam called Uplay. I know theres a function to add a non-steam game to steam but all it seems to do is put it in your library but won't let me use the interface or recieve messages ingame.

nah, the steam interface won't work if the game isn't running throug steam as far as i know.

also there's no way uplay is gonna let you do that because i know for a fact they only use steam to bring you over to uplay and run the game through that.

You need to run game through steam when you add it in library. Then you can use steam overlay. Maybe it can conflict with other DD systems like uplay. But for assassins creed all runs OK for me. You start game THROUGH steam - it launches uplay launcher - you run game - using shift-tab in game opens steam overlay.

Well, if we talk about steam overlay, ofc :)

Hmm I suspected as much. The uplay to steam relationship is very bad a lot of ubisoft games bought through steam give you codes that won't activate because they're run through uplay. Had that with Primal originally...
