Split screen has been deprecated in 2022 and unsupported in 2024, there’s a pop up message now. It’ll appear in the *upcoming* beta version. You can switch it to regular build to upcoming build

by doing this can i play in split screen mode? i bought the game just to play with my girlfriend

Technically you still can. But if you seen some weird bugs or features then it’s most likely it won’t be fixed.
