Weird startups !!
Hi all :)
I reinstalled the game 2 days go, since then every startup has me completely surrounded by approx 10 - 20 bandit camps. Obviously, this makes both exploration and growth virtually impossible. The only way around it is to stay in camp and grow incredibly slowly and wait until i have amassed several spearmen.Only then can i expand normally. Which is extremely boring and makes me want to give up on a game i am really excited about.

Have i missed an update or something ? Is it a bug ? Or have i just been unlucky 3 times in a row ?

More info... Just restarted a further 3 times and each time was an impossible location. 1) On the coast with no fish or land resources ! 2) Inland start with no resources at all ! 3) Inland start with 2 bandit camps inside borders !!

It appears the game is completely screwed at the moment. Where it was working fine 2 days ago.

appreanlty the frist 2 play though wher ment ot be less hard, fro mthen on you get a random map.

it would apear the random map's are an issue, ive found that you dont alwasy geta start you can use. which is the same expriance you sema to have gotten. its a shamne but as the game is still in beta testing i hope the game imporve later.

You can return to the starting map seed by editing settings\settings.xml and changing this back to 1

Oh cool....Tnx for the quick and helpful responses guys. Much appreciated :)

Tried to edit xml file as 'Kwairt' suggested but it makes no difference. Still starting up as impossible. Thanks for trying tho :)...

Guess i'll just have to wait until game is playable.

Random starts are just that: totally random. I've had a number of difficult starts. Some I rerolled, others were playable. Remember that you can pack up your Settlement and move elsewhere! Won't help if surrounded by Bandits, but might sometimes help with the resource problems.

Yep, editing both xml files worked ( unless it was a coincidence). But i won't know as i'm not gonna waste this chance for a decent start. :)
