Steam Forum FAQ
As you veterans know, I am only sporadically here :) I focus my attention on our official forums, our Facebook page, our Twitter feed, and my email. At this time I'm also the press contact for the company, and the one handling review codes and testing access. I'm one person, and I have two games and one unannounced project, so outside forums are usually the first thing I cut when I'm setting priorities.

But since technically I'm off work and in bed for the night, I've got a little time to hang out!

YOSE came into existence because our publisher wanted to bring the game to a brand new audience on their fancy new console. That's... pretty much it, right there. Remember, we were a brand new studio when we dreamed up SOD, and the only way the game got made at all was that we sold the IP to the publisher. They own it, and this was something they wanted to do.

And frankly we wanted to do it, and we're proud of the result. The chance to really give your baby a proper overhaul is not something developers get to do very often.

YOSE has as much new content as it does (and the biggest discount we could negotiate) because we knew we'd have some repeat buyers and we wanted to show those players as much appreciation as possible. But see above - the intended audience was _new_ players. We appreciate, and are tremendously grateful for, any player who wants to buy the upgraded version. (It's people like you that gave us the option of even HAVING the unannounced project, if you know what I mean.) But we do not, and never did, expect it.

Is it worth your twenty dollars? (It's 30 for new people, 20 for returning people, in US dollars.) I don't know. I'm not you. It isn't just some prettied up graphics and a few new animations, though - there are months of articles on our website going into the details, as well as a ton of coverage from PAX South and East, as well as our own live streams where we answered questions and showed live play and expressed our gratitude to our existing community.

I'm going to be giving out review codes like Pez, the way I always do, so you can get a plethora of opinions and see plenty of streams and Let's Plays before you make the purchasing decision. We tried to make it worthwhile... and you can always wait for the inevitable half off Steam sale down the road. ;) Or you can seriously not buy it at all. Again, we don't expect it, and have nothing but gratitude for anyone who wants to buy it.

I am not allowed to talk about future projects, other than to observe that we've signed a contract for future SOD games, that MP is long-promised core of future games, and that we are working on something. That something was not YOSE.

Please do read the pinned FAQ, and please do keep the conversation civil, speaking only for yourself.

Oh, and I'm cross posting this and the other FAQ to the "other" SoD forum. I wish I could just merge them, but I'm not in charge of the Steam forums even a little bit ;)

If State of Decay was a mmo or a coop game I would play it so much more! But now I just sit and play the game when I don't have internet or if i'm bored. PLEASE fix coop at least! :(

You have lost my support due to your Greed, Ms. Undead Sanya!!! 33% discount for us who have the original?!!! We who purchased your stupid game should receive a FREE upgrade to the new version!

But no, your greed is too strong in your life. I will tell everyone I know just how awful and low you are and not to support this type of business practice!

... and when we finish that new mysterious game, you can bet your ass that barely a year later we will discontinue support and pull our trademarked "Year One Scam Edition" trick again.

I'm sure players will be really eager to buy your next game at full price on release ...

First off, you all did not overhaul the game. Second you have nothing but gratitude for anyone who buys this game, what about us that supported UL from the beginning?

it's disgusting fluff pr always use to present their minimal work for cash grab. All companies do this, just you know smaller development teams USUALLY put more passion. This lack of effort or care for their product or community is just asking for failure. I don't expect their next title to ever reach a similar degree of success this one initially did. And knowing their re-release tactics? I won't even buy it on sale.

When this game started to be developed, it raised my hopes so high...When the game was officially released, it brought me down with a fall from a 3 storey building...after so much time has passed waiting for buggs to be fixed, I finally had to admit to myself: It will never be fixed!
Maybe when I get older and get Dementia I may be able to forget how Devs played us like a fools...Come on Dementia, hurry up so I can forget how I let them... :rfacepalm:
