Unable to get 100% combo star.

I've gotten a 100% combo several times on this level, yet still no star. What's the problem?

I found out afterwards that you need to both combo the level AND take out all the guys to get the star. They don't tell you that for some reason.

Oh, they do. You didn't complete the main objective, thus no other stars are awarded.

You only get extra stars if you complete the objective (from "finish the level" to "beat the time limit" to "collect all coins" or "beat the opponent team" or "beat the boss").
