Hell, the least he could have done is release the source, such that others could keep up where he left off.
Good thing we already have Ace Combat 7 on the horizon and it's heading towards Steam next year.
Instead of excelling in one area in particular (and I think VT should simply have gone the AC clone route all the way and assume that choice), VT falls flat in the middle. Jack of all trades but master of none.
Thankfully, there's not only AC7, but Project Wingman on the horizon. I'm waiting for PW's next demo, and apparently, there may be a crowdfunding thing coming on soon.
As for contacting the creator, at least I think someone should try contacting Iceberg instead and see if we can bargain to obtain the source code or something. That, or somehow someone makes a DLL injector for the game that adds exception handling to prevent most crashes, and, someone should release an AC3 remake on that game, that would solve it all, but, the chances of this happening are small as f*ck.
He hasnt been on, according to steam for "More than a Year". Its safe to say that something came up, I do recall him mentioning something very personal.
As for source code, definitely contacting Iceberg would be the right choice I guess.
Are there limitations to the point where the 'ol "community bugfix patch" can't do enough? It's a solid base game, and with the moddability of it, it has serious potential. But... So do so many early-access titles that turn into basically vaporware.
Worst of all it doesn't even work for me. It crashes after every mission, I submitted the logs to TS prior to him disappearing off the face of the planet, and a fix never materialized.
Can't even entertain myself by making absurd battle scenarios anymore.
Curiously enough, Jose Pavli, who composed the OST of this game, also composes the music of Project Wingman. Maybe if someone speaks with him, as he has a YT and Facebook page, maybe he could knew something.
some configs i know it is me ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up with my programing (i am not an expert coder after all), like leaving an open thread (for example programing an unit to flee to a point on the map and add a trigger if does so, and programing a trigger if the unit is destroyed without puting a trigger state command to shutdown the first trigger.), but other times, i find that is just impossible to know on what the game (or me) is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up. log files don't help much, as to tell: oh there is a file missing here and there, but i can see some of them were deliberate, like the smokeless missiles, but this makes the program unstable as ♥♥♥♥, so i need to manually check each vanilla missile and see wich ones have or don't have smoke to add it. suffering because there is no accent support and want to write some dialogue for a mission/campaign in portuguese (honestly don't even try using accents and other symbols... it does not work at all)... stuff like that... makes the program super unstable as all hell... i would want the source code so i could see more internally on what am i doing wrong and overall improve myself and other guys, releasing some template stuff to make people not suffer nearly as much as i am now.
it goes without saying that this game is a guilty pleasure to me (i've put after all 400+ hours on it modding this thing to death). but i think i may be hitting a brick wall on what i can and cannot do with it as of now. i mean, i can program a fully functional AI Aigaion that shoots in all directions and rains missiles, a fully spherical Planet on the background of the space map, but i cannot polish up the presentation to release missions and stuff for you guys... for years i yell at the guy that makes this game: make a visual GUI for Cutscenes. iron out the exceptions... come on... we have nearly moded 500 planes into the game, knowledge to make maps (i at least can do it with single texture files for example, i know there is guys who can do better than me), storytelling to give and sell, but the program at this state is holding us down. and i am so frustrated because of it. is such easy to mod this, if you know what you're doing, but it is too unstable to be worth it. is trully a shame. TT.TT
(also, yes i plan to release another plane and object patch, i just need to finish my college chores like CCT and other final exams... it may take a while, but it will come, unless i die before it)
