Super Duper Pooper Modding Guide
GENERAL
99% of current mods can be found in the ModDB page at http://www.moddb.com/games/vector-thrust . All kinds of mods have already been made for the game during its alpha funding stage by our fans!

It's often good practice to create another folder for your Mods in Vector Thrust's root directory so you can easily file away all the stuff you download in a location easy to get to.

INSTALLING CUSTOM SKINS
Skins are often compiled through .zip files. containing individual Airplane folders. Simply extract the files and merge the Aircraft folders with the ones in Vector Thrust's Objects/Airplane folder.

INSTALLING CUSTOM AIRCRAFT
Aircraft and their content may have unique sound files. Extract the .zip file and place the custom aircraft's self-titled folder into Vector Thrust's Objects/Airplane folder. If the aircraft has customised sound files associated with it you must copy the Media, Audio, or Sounds folder into Vector Thrust's Media folder.

INSTALLING VOICE PACKS
For some reason Voice Packs are not located in VT's Media folders. Instead, they are in the Objects/Voices/Pilots folder. Extract the .zip file and place the file in there.

MODIFYING AIRCRAFT WEAPONS SELECTION
Go to the .ini file in the aircraft which you want to tweak's folder. Scroll down until you find the Special Weapons list, and copy the name of the weapon which you want to equip's name in VT's Objects/Weapons folder. You'll also find details about the amount carried by each aircraft, salvo numbers, etc. which you can also change.

MANUALLY UNLOCKING AIRCRAFT
Go to the .ini file in the aircraft which you want to unlock's folder. Find the line which says StartLocked=true and change 'true' to 'false'.

ADDING CUSTOM MUSIC
If you want to add music in VT, simply convert the file into an .ogg format, replace all spaces with _ and stick it in the media/Musics folder. Then, go into System in the VT root folder and open up the data03 text file. Follow the music format at the bottom of the file to add the new song to Skirmish mode! (Remember to change the PlayList_NumMusics value at the top of that section as well)

I'd like to mention that other miscellaneous mods that aren't mentioned here (sound packs like the one I just uploaded, etc.) should come with their own README with instructions for the user to follow on installation. These are just general tips, and will not work with every mod.

I'd also like to mention that installing a custom skin will not make the aircraft available for the player; you still have to unlock the aircraft to use the skin.

By pinning this, does this mean in the full version you will be ok with modding?

He completely supports modding and has done so since the game's Alpha on Desura, and Steam Workshop is planned to be added as well. :)

It's mainly because of this that I'm buying this game.

Sorry for being late to the party, the ModDB page also has some tutorials on creating new stuff/mod for the game.

Do I need to mod the game or are the aircraft in the bomber folder going to be usable some time in the future because most of those are pretty cool looking and i think would be a waste if they were?

I don't want to promote my own stuff, but, it's been done. http://www.moddb.com/games/vector-thrust/addons/playable-bomber-proof-of-concept

Can I have a finished full retail game before I need to mod it please?

You technically don't need to own Vector Thrust to be able to create mods for it since mods are mostly comprised of free-use image/TXT files. But to actually use those mods, you need the game.

I think he means that there is still a lot to be done to the base game
... Or a free copy

Ah, I hadn't even considered sarcasm. You're right, that does make more sense. still not ruling out free copy

YAY, mods, don't give a *peep* about them. Maybe actually complete singleplayer campaign? Or fix glitches and bugs?

Any tips or tutorials on creating mutators? Is there an API on what we can change with a mutator?
