Jump when move
I've got a really strange effect happening when I move in any direction... my first person character in the manned MP Cooperative Cydonia Mensae mission will JUMP every time before he moves.

I've restarted the server, reloaded the game, and checked other save games that are still working fine. It never happens in the ready room.

The game is still playable but it is a very annoying effect. I continue to play but I have a tendency to jump when I least want to.

I've been playing this game for at least 50 hours... there are no mods or addons enabled... I don't play DEV or TEST mode (just straight 'Play Take On Mars' which is build 39544).

Nothing has changed with my computer set up.. I've checked the keyboard and spacebar, and nothing has changed since the last time I played (when I didn't have this problem happening).

I am pretty good with modifying the .scnsave files, but I don't know how to fix this, and I don't have a backup of the file to compare. Has anyone seen this effect before? Is there any way to fix my save game (even if it is a cut and paste to savegame file solution). Thanks much

This is in czech so you'll need google translate or similar translator, the issue in this link was duplicate characters being present in the save file.

And in English it says:

Solved, you've guided me enough.
I removed the last save of my character from the save folder, which was an error. Maybe all you have to do is edit some character values - I don't know, but save all the characters of all players, save first, second, first, second, first, second .... etc ..
After the last save my character was there twice in a row and then the second character.
Removing one of my duplicate features is all OK. Thank you for your guidance, help and your time.

==============================

Didn't help much, since there was only a single character in the save file. This is how I fixed it:

1/ Backup the dysfunctional MP coop save game
2/ Open a similar coop working MP save file and find and copy the working character
3/ Open the dysfunctional save game file and note the ID # for the dysfunctional character
4/ Edit the dysfunctional save game to replace the existing character (everything between the **** lines)
5/ Edit the pasted 'new' character to have the same ID as the deleted character (from step 3)

This worked fine but placed my 'new' non-jumping character about 15 km from the HAB... a challenging discrepancy I would live with by taking half a day (in 1:24) to run back to the HAB.

It would've been a lot easier to 'Delete Character On Server' in the ready room, but that didn't work to fix the jumping problem.

Something else that might have worked as well would be spawning a new character in using the editor after running the dev mode exe. (Don't worry it doesn't mess a regular game up it just enables the editor for in-game use when making stuff... etc) Then just delete the messed up character in the save file much the same way you copied over a working character.

Infact... you might have been able to just run the dev exe open the editor delete your messed up character and then spawn a new one in then save and switch back to the regular exe and see if it still jumps if not go back to playing.

I've stayed away from dev mode exclusively because it labels all my games 'Achievements Disabled'... I should play with it more to be familiar with it's advantages and limitations.

Thank you for your help again. Good information.

You don't have to worry about the 'disabled achievements' thing. I've done it to my own saves with no issues and still got the achievements.

The process is as follows:

1. Run TKOM_dev.exe and edit w/e in-game using the editor
2. Save the game and quit to desktop
3. Fire up TKOM.exe and load the save game
4. Do w/e you were doing after editing in w/e and play

An easy way to see if things worked is quit the game after step 4 and look at your achievements on the game page in the library. If you do a simple achievements just for testing purpose you'll see it's unlocked.

I got these two by running the dev and giving myself money in a rover campaign. Then I just quit out and loaded up the reg-non dev quit after playing and noticed these two were now unlocked.
