Did HW 3 kill the franchise?
Bad sign when they only allow people who bought the game to post and check threads...

So, flop?

Even if its not dead and considering how long we needed for HW3, even if its not dead, we will be dead until the next one comes.
not only did it kill the franchise.
i swear they killed these ones with a bad patch that broke the docking maneuvers

Yep, after they pulled that stunt, I fully expected HW3 to be a real lemon turkey.

It didn't help the future of the franchise. But it may still be salvageable in the right hands. Personally, I'd love a Homeworld Ultimate, for great lack of a better term. Every race available, including some of the more exotic ones (Raiders, Kadeshi, Bentusi) just as a good skirmish battler.

I found the campaign of HW3 less than stellar and not feeling like a Homeworld campaign, but did enjoy the co-op multiplayer missions for a while with people from the Discord server.

That stated I stopped at level 26 or so and decided to let the game go to uninstall in favor of other ones my group was enjoying.

A friend and I enjoy this one for classic Homeworld, but we've found that even barely alt-tabbing or thinking about it can crash a game connection in a desync error. It's very frustrating.

Homeworld was already dead when they started working on 3.
As others say, HW was dead as a series soon as Gearbox bought it. Cataclysm/Emergence was never re-released, the HW remaster is good but pretty crash-happy (I replayed HW1R the other week and it crashed every other level on load, took quite a few tries), IMO Homeworld 2 was not very good, Deserts Of Karak's story is just a bunch of pitched battles with an unsatisfying conclusion, and most important Homeworld 3 is generally considered to be a terrible rehash of the story designed by a marketing team.
Well until the DEI hires are removed and the consultancy companies fired for their incompetence with the handling of this IP. You can see in the data mined videos that the cinematics were originally gonna be in black and white like all the Homeworld games did(DOK may not have been done like that but i found the oil painting look pleasing at times). Until then we can rely on the modders or Era one as thats about our best hopes at this point

Homeworld legacy is still here.
Era one
Expanse.
The Endless legend(space), which vaulters are ommage for homeworld.
We just need proper game.
Relic can still do a new homeworld.
Gearbox should just sell the ip but take two would never do it x).

Developers of era one should hire the Paul ruskay to do soundtrack.
OST and visuals are the main part of homeworld's vibe.
They likely killed it.

So many ppl got perma-banned in the Homeword 3 forums during beta, where we were offering feedback......(most of it was"negative").....

They did not listen and the game flopped very hard.....

HW3 likely got balanced chances since then, but back then, "beta" AI was much worse than Classic HW1 ships from 1999.

Ships could get stuck, derp.....do not listen to commands.... and Resource gathering was ultra-dumped down.

And the Mothership was faster than a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ scout......
Press the ability button for more dmg APM "skill check".....

You had Anti-All ships, and the kill-to-death ratio was very, very fast, so you could barely micro as everything died fast.
Subsystems got removed.

The lore is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ terrilbe as even in previous HW games you had Unbonded ppl like the Devs were not even looking at their previous games' lore.......

Hopefully, someone will eventually buy the IP.

HW Cataclysm could be remastered as it is a good game.
The source code for Cataclysm was lost, so a remaster isn't likely. Technically HW:R wasn't even a remaster, but a mod for an 'updated' HW2 engine.
Massive flop. Now RTS don't really get a big audience nowadays, however we were expecting HW3's playerbase would be reasonably big for an RTS for at least half-a-year. Its a single-player focused RTS game after all.

It didn't even last a month.

At least it looked and sounded pretty... thats it. Gameplay-wise, it has a lot less compared to HW1 and HW2. Story is abysmal, the cutscenes are ugly, and the maps are surprisingly claustrophobic despite it being set in space, which has actually caused pathfinding issues.
Imagine causing pathfinding issues in a space RTS game.

Gearbox meddling with development also did not help at all.

Just treat HW3 like C&C4 or Dawn of War 3. Not existent.
