edit: it also reminds me that on some other game, I probably spent like a couple of hours without a crate, even though it was set to spawn after no later than 40 minutes.
edit 2: stopwatch hits almost 40 minutes, new crate spawn.
If you are playing SP, you can start new world with new 5-20 default values.
For old world in SP you can edit those values in Sandbox.sbc file of your save (with notepad for example). Backup your world directory just in case you make mistake.
<MinDropContainerRespawnTime>5</MinDropContainerRespawnTime>
<MaxDropContainerRespawnTime>20</MaxDropContainerRespawnTime>
It would be great to get the grinding done so that I can then go back to creative mode and keep working on my projects.
If you are referring to just getting components, why bother they are easy enough to assemble already. If you just like pushing buttons, I guess it's cool.
Well, I can also place a blueprint and have a ship immediately or I can build that ship in survival. The latter gives me something to do in the game and is an enjoyable process in itself.
Hunting crates provides another distracion. It's a thing you can do in the game. Probably has some "new thing" shine in it still that will eventually vanish but it's there now. It can even provide new ways to play a survival scenario, for example a "scavenge only" challenge.
Nice find, though. Always fun to discover new things in how stuff works in the game.
(For those who want to cry "foul" for the method Kidmobius found, remember that the max limit still applies so from the point-of-view of others nothing changes even if you include the market in your consideration. It's like cheating in solitaire: no-one cares except you. Which, of course, raises the question of why bother in the first place, but let's not forget it's still "no-one cares except you" so whatever.
I had the same problem. No drops since two days and many hours of play. When I edited the sandbox.sbc I've seen, that the drop timer was not active (first tag PlayerContainerData the <Activate> was false). I set this to true and after the <Timer> value a new container appeared.
Don't know how this timer got deactivated or not activated.
In addition I realised, that creation of GPS marker also creates the "unknown signal" sound. Don't know if has something to with with the creation/removal of user GPS marker. I need to test this out.
When there is a drop, the timer for a new drop is stopped.
When you open the probe/it gets destroyed, the timer will restart.
BUT when you create a save before opening and exit/crash and reload your save, the timer WON'T be restarted and you will stay without any more drop.
==> @Keen: Seems to be a bug. Could you please fix it?
Yep, this is since the update with the cargo drop.
And I can't create new GPS coordinate "from clipboard" since that...
And can't connect to laser antenna with "past coordinate"...
I have write something in bug report on keen forum, but no answer at all...
I didn't test that since the last update.
