If you put a hinge or piston in the boat, the boat will move strangely.
I am using Google Translate. The translation may not be smooth.

I tried to check if there were similar cases among the questions posted by other people, but I couldn't find any because my English is not good enough.

So I have a question.

When I use the hinge or piston of the ship, the gyro behaves strangely.

The ship rocks left and right and the nose goes up even if I don't steer it.
So I can't steer it properly.

This bug has been around for a long time and it seems like it hasn't been fixed yet.
From what I've seen posted by other people on the workshop, it seems like there are a lot of ships that use hinges or pistons. Have they found a solution?
Or are they using the ship in a way that forces the steering to move the way they want?

It's not a bug. A gyro can compensate for things on the main ship, but it will not properly compensate for any subgrids (i.e. hinges and pistons) attached to the main ship. You can experiment with adding gyros to any subgrids, or look for scripts on the workshop.

Hi, that happens when making a "Bad sub grid setup".

A "Bad sub grid setup" can cause collision problems so "Phantom forces" that gives the Bug :
-> Ship moving on its own.

To fix
= You just have to Redo different till no more "Phantom forces".

Veteran Tip

Best to have one block of clearance around the sub grids to be sure there will not be any "Phantom forces" when using so to avoid the "Bug" -> Ship moving on its own.

on top of this its a good idea to have share inertia enabled in world when playing around with mechanical blocks a lot, sub grids in gravity wells will act as their own grid otherwise and even if your ships main grid has more than enough force to fly in gravity it can sink or behave odly.

ah, you are trying to make a VTOL craft, thrusters on subgrid parts will not count for inertial dampening. theres a pb script or two out there for it but you need a programmable block to use one. Could also mess around with thrust override now that we have the action option to set thruster override to specific values in the ships hotbar.

I will not be a good help on your new thruster on rotor creation because I never tried but a lot can be found on the Workshop and they use Scripts to do so, like this one :

Dan2D3D developer, all the scripts you mentioned are applied.
If you need to reinstall scripts when loading a save file, just install the script you mentioned and the ship will work.
Also, if you want to use the gyro of the subgrid, you need to install one more script.
When adding the LCD, I had to move the seat position a little bit due to interference issues between the canopy and the LCD, so I attached the seat above the piston.

But there is one problem. I installed the 4th program block behind the seat and installed the LCD2 script, but the LCD did not work properly.

The biggest problem is that the subgrid thrusters, gyro control script, and vector script work fine, but when I turn off the magnetic field and take off, it moves in an unintended direction and crashes.

This problem did not occur on aircraft with the cockpit installed without canopy opening and only the vector script installed.

This can only be seen as a bug in the hinge and cylinder for canopy opening.

I can't find any other place on the ship where I can install the hinge and piston to avoid the phantom force of the hinge and piston that you mentioned earlier.

You said it's not a bug, but for now, I can't find any other way than to give up on opening the canopy.

I had a lot of fun making the canopy opening mechanism for this boat, but it's not really usable yet, so I'm just using it for decoration.

If you could tell me how to make this boat usable, I'd appreciate it.

You might be wondering why we would waste time making something like this, but doesn't the canopy part look cool?
However, if you install this canopy the way the game system allows, it cannot be installed with the cockpit, which causes vision problems when playing in first-person.
To solve this problem, you can install the cockpit on top of the piston and push it under the canopy, or you can attach the canopy to a hinge or piston and raise it up, then install the cockpit and cover it.

It's a bit uncomfortable for me, who prefers a first-person perspective. If there weren't bugs on the hinges and pistons, I'd be collecting supplies that fall from the sky on this ship by now.

Me = I don't keep the "Not working setups". I delete and use only the working ones ;)

You may ask a SE programmer by creatiing a bug report on the Official SE Support Portal, they will tell you if it is a Bug they will fix or not.
