"Restart" should spawn you instantly at the start of your run to minimize tedium
*pop in 1 button insted of down and up.
*having problem using the fast turn a+s and d+s
*maby this is in game already but can it snow? it would be crazy fun to ride in like 60cm of fresh snow!
A few improvements I would like to see:
- Turning is incredibly stiff, and feels almost on rails at times.
- The controls in general need some fine tuning, especially on a gamepad.
- I would love to be able to cruise around in deep powder that behaves realistically
- Get rid of the scores in freeride, It would be nice just to cruise around
that's it for now, cheers!
#1 Separate popping/ollieing from grabs. Would love to see it either as a single button (hold to crouch, release to jump) or as an up down flick on the controller like Skate.
#2 Keep the character parallel with the ground during on-axis spins. If I hold "spin left" off of a park jump, I land super back seat. It shouldn't be easier to land a double cork than a straight 360.
#3 Make it more forgiving to land switch. Landing switch in real life is much easier than landing straight. Even if you're leaning pretty far forward, you can still stomp landings.
#4 Make a longer park. It's a video game, why not make a super long park?
1. Switch the tunring and grab controls (arrows control movement)
a. The current method seems a bit unatural, at least to me
b. Maybe go the way of Shredsauce and have grabs be on the left hand side of
the keyboard
2. Reverts
a. When your in the flats its a pain to get from switch to regular again
3. Give players the option to turn score on and off
4. "Spin-assist"
a. I often under/over rotate on accident and to correct it in midair looks rather ugly
b. Also whenever I go for some kind of flat spin (ex. a 360, not a cork/flip) I land
suuuper back seat and its no bueno. Like Explicitd said above maybe have the
have the character's x-axis always parrallel to the terrain below.
5. Continue
a. Have the continue option after you fall put the player back 10-15m from where
they fell.
b. Or instead of having the character's skiis pop off and he goes flying, have the
character's skiis stay on and after laying in the snow for a solid 30 seconds
have him get up and continue skiing.
Sorry for my lack of ski-terminology I snowboard and skate so I don't know much of you "two-planker" lingo...
all in all it is a very fun game!
but as stated above the turns are really hard making them faster could be more realistic and fun.
adding different sizes and specs to the skis could be great like skis for doing slalom and skis which are better at jumping and freestyling etc.
also adding powder snow would be perfect!
but good job guys!
Adding powder spots and powder lines into the game would be sweet too. Get a few really good tree lines set up and a few pillow lines and you'll be all good. With this, you may want to think about incorporating tracks left behind from you skiing. Maybe save the last five ski tracks you made, or maybe the last 30 minutes. You could even make this adjustable once you get a settings tab put up.
For controller gameplay, the game is severely lacking. Although the feel of a controller is nice, it does not operate the same as a keyboard. I like the jump much better on the keyboard, but grabs just do not translate well on the controller. Try making the A,B,X,Y keys into the grabs instead of the joystick, or make a button for jumping, and the joystick for grabs. Either way, jumping and grabs on the same joystick just doesn't work very well. Also, making it easier to navigate the menus with a controller is a must. At some point, make the controlls customizable so we can all adjust the controlls to our own personal play style.
I'm excited for when you add sound after you gather some good audio from this winter. You may want to think about adding an "mp3 player" to the game, however. You could add music to the games/menus and have the option to listen to music while you ski where the winter/skiing audio would be muffled behind the music. Having the option to add your own music would be cool too.
At some point, a crash cam is needed. There are some pretty gnarly wipeouts I've been in for this game already and having the ability to see them replayed back to me would be sweet! An injury report would be a funny thing to add too. Make this all optional as some people don't want to waste time watching themselves crash, but a good deal of people would love to get into crash contests to see who would have the gnarliest wipeouts! You could even have a wipe of the week section on your website.
Asides from what everyone else has said and what I've included above, the game is fantastic! I'm really enjoying this oportunity and cannot wait until some more updates get put into the game. Keep up the good work and have a wonderful ski season!
