killswitch mechanics?
I played the demo of this years ago and it didn't seem like it was worth playing, but the setup did intrigue me. I realize that it's basically an adaptation of that old Chinese story where an actual monkey god was bound to a monk by magic, but the control method in the game seemed to have a major flaw. So the hacker woman programs Monkey's slave collar to kill him if she dies or disobeys her commands. But is there anything stopping him from breaking her jaw so she can't talk? (He threatens to kill her when he first wakes up so I don't think he has too many issues with hitting a lady).

First of all, most stories aren't meant to be realistic. In this particular case, it's a perfect way to team up total strangers in the first 5 minutes of the game, and allowing the "getting to know one another" part to happen during the course of the game.

Other than that, the way I understood it, the device isn't about talking.
I don't think whatever interface she's using for her gadgetry is using voice. Also Monkey is not exactly a technological genius, so its workings may be way beyond him.

She gives him voice commands (which cause pain until he obeys them) when he wakes up with the slave headband on. Yes, she also has a holographic touch interface for her tech, but restraining her hands would be easy after shattering her jaw with his staff. Obviously "T for teen" rated games can't get away with showing that kind of brutality, but I was just curious if they ever addressed that plot hole. Like later when they trust each other she mentions that the headband was also programmed to kill him if she didn't say a password to the device each day.
