Fixed: Shadow striping bugs
EDIT: As Meep posted below, the fix is to locate your game's directory. You can do so by right-clicking on the game in Steam, selecting Properties, Browse Local Files. In there go to Engine, then Config and open BaseEngine.ini. Look for the line LightEnvironmentShadows and set that to False instead of True.

I have an EVGA GTX 780 and I've noticed (not sure if this has happened recently or the whole time) that there is shadow striping with Enslaved as well as other games too. It tends to happen on games that run on Unreal Engine 3 such as Bioshock: Infinte.

I have my drivers updated to the latest possible, even tried using the beta drivers. Everything I have software related is up to date such as MSI Afterburner, sound drivers, Logitech Mouse software etc.

I have an imgur album here[imgur.com] that shows off the shadow striping in Enslaved.

Thanks in advance!

Specs:
EVGA GTX 780 overclocked to +135MHz on Core and 106% Power.
Intel i5 3570K overclocked to 4.00GHz
8GB of DDR3 RAM
2 x 1TB HDDs in RAID 0
EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 750 watt PSU
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit

No, this didn't work for me and I tried it on both BaseEngine.ini and Monkeyengine.ini files.

The solution that really worked is based on a post of another friend in a previous topic, with some other tweaks.

Because I don't know which of the above 2 files is responsible for the changes in game, I applied the same settings on both files and then made them "Read Only".

LightEnvironmentShadows=True
ShadowFilterQualityBias=8
MinShadowResolution=256 (default was 32 and 128 on each file)
MaxShadowResolution=2048
ShadowFadeResolution=256 (default was 128)
ShadowDepthBias=0.100 (default value was 0.012)

The last one is what does most of the job, by limiting the body shadows on larger parts. Also, by increasing the shadow resolution, the remaining shadows are not "waves".

If the result is not good enough for you, you can increase the ShadowDepthBias to your liking

@Panther_512 I can confirm this fixes the shadows as much as they are going to be fixed. Game looks even better with the shadows fixed. I would recommend making all the graphic tweaks in the other guide, then applying the Shadow fixes. The only file changes need to be made in is MonkeyEngine.ini.

If this still doesn't fix all of your problems, many have success turning LightEnvironmentShadows=False. The other changes can remain.

Where are the ini files located?

Check the OP for step-by-step instructions on finding them.

By disabling LightEnvironmentShadows all you're doing is removing some shadows from the game, namely the shadows the general lighting itself gives to objects (if you're under the sunlight, for example). The most appropriate method, if you don't want to remove shadows, is to tweak the shadows in the config to your preference. This shadow ugliness is a common feature of all games using Unreal Engine 3.
