A new Update (v1.11) for Tropico 5 has been released!
Fellow Tropicans,

A new update for Tropico 5 is now available! In this update, we’ve added cross-platform multiplayer (Steam & GoG) and fixed the XAudio compatibility issues some players were encountering.

Full changelog below:

Improvements
  • [Multiplayer] Added cross-platform multiplayer support between Steam and GOG accounts
  • [Multiplayer] Added tool tip for road demolish menu informing players that demolishing a road is only possible within territories they own

Bug fixes
  • Fixed a crash on Windows 10 systems due to XAudio compatibility issues caused by Windows update (XAudio2_7.dll_unloaded error)
  • Fixed an issue where gamepad input was still possible even after it being turned off via the Options menu
  • [Multiplayer] Fixed an issue where incompatible lobbies were visible to players

Verbesserungen
  • [Multiplayer] Cross-Platform Multiplayer-Unterstützung zwischen Steam und GOG wurde hinzugefügt.
  • [Multiplayer] Tooltip für das Straßenabbruch-Tool im Baumenü hinzugefügt, sodass Spieler in MP-Spielen darüber informiert werden, dass der Straßenabbruch nur in ihrem eigenen Gebiet möglich ist.

Fehlerbehebungen
  • Absturz bei Windows 10-Systemen aufgrund von XAudio-Kompatibilitätsproblemen behoben, die durch ein Windows-Update verursacht wurden (XAudio2_7.dll_unloaded-Fehler)
  • Es wurde ein Problem behoben, bei dem die Gamepad-Eingabe auch dann noch möglich war, wenn sie in den Optionen ausgeschaltet war.

  • [Mehrspieler] Es wurde ein Problem behoben, bei dem Spieler inkompatible Lobbys sehen konnten

After the update my Tropico 5 Linux version does not start anymore. The error message writes: "missing programme file" /home/steam/steamapps/common/Tropico 5/Tropico5" :steamsad:

Same problem as above. Looks like the binaries were replaced with a "emptysteamdepot" folder. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

Also confirmed you messed up the Steam content for the Linux build. It downloads a bunch of data but a bunch, including the binary is missing.

It's not the launcher, there aren't any binaries for the game in the Linux depo currently, so there's no way to play it. We have to wait for them to fix it.

I have the same issue. Before the last update, the game was running fine and dandy in my humble machine, no crashes, no buggy behaviour. I'm running Lubuntu 20.04 Linux. i've tried all measures recommended by Steam Support like checking the game files integrity or flushing the cache. I've also rebooted the system after applying the steps given by the troubleshoot guide.Everything I tried was to no avail. I'm optimistic Kalypso will try to solve this issue soon. I'm planning on buying the two wxpansions and some DLCs. I love ruling Tropico!

On macOS I discovered how to play selecting the previous version as a beta brunch on game properties (need to enable beta program on steam options).

if you wanna play it you can switch to 1.10 legacy in the beta branch. linux version seems to work this way
