Resolution problem
Hey everyone,

I am trying to set the resolution corrrectly but it doesn't work.

In fulllscreen the image is bigger than my screen even though both of them are supposed to be 1920 x 1080.
I searched the discussions but none of the answers helped me.
I tried <rendering> and I set DPI to 100% but it still doesn't work.

I have been wanting to play this game for a long time now, even before it was on Steam.

Any help would be appreciated.

From what I remember the devs saying, fullscreen should use your resolution regardless of your settings. Have you tried using windowed mode? You can change the resolution for that in Options.xml and ctrl+shift+f is a shortcut between fullscreen and windowed.

When you say "both of them" you mean you have dual monitors?

The devs haven't post here for some time now.

I tried editing Options.xml and it doesn't make any difference for me :(

When I said both of them, I meant both the game and my monitor is using the same resolution but the game is still looking way bigger than it is supposed to be.

A sidenote: I can't seem to run it in windowed mode either, it always runs in fullscreen no matter what I choose or edit in Options.xml-

Can you tell me which system you're running on? We'd like to have a look at this but need to know whether you're on Windows, Mac or Linux.

Of course.

I am running the game on Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit OS.

System specs are as follows:

AMD R9 290
Intel i5 4670k
8 GB RAM

DirectX, PhysX, GPU drivers are all up to date.

I'm a bit puzzled. I know that we have problems with DPI settings different to 100%. Did you log off and on after changing the DPI Scaling Size?

Are you editing the correct Options.xml file? I've never seen the fullscreen setting getting ignored, so far.

Sorry that our game is so hard to get running.

My DPI is set to 100%, I will log off and see if that makes any difference.

I am editing the Options.xml in this folder
\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Secrets of Raetikon\save

<rendering> <fullscreen value="false" /> <windowSize value="1920 1080" /> <postProcessing value="true" /> </rendering>

I will reply back to you in a minute.

seems like your Options.xml is the correct one.

and if you set the window size to

<windowSize value="800 450" />

you're not getting a smaller window?

hi,

i don't know exactly how many different settings microsoft offers for scaling, but to be sure, these are the settings which are troublesome with our rendering window (windows 8.0):

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display -> Change the size of all items
This has to be set to 100%

I used DpiScaling.exe to change the DPI settings, which opens up the same window I guess and apparently I haven't restarted my computer after changing the DPI settings.

Now it works properly but I wish I there was a way to make it work without setting my DPI to 100% because it becomes difficult to read texts for me like this and all those icons on my desktop are messed up now but that's fine :)

Sorry that we've trashed your desktop layout. Personally I hate it when that happens :) Glad that you don't mind.

We will check how much work it is to include DPI support in the game. On Mac that works automagically but Windows seems to need us to take care of it.

I hate it too but it's worth it for your game ;)

Thanks for the support and I feel very lucky and happy that I own this game :)

just a hint: i think its enough to log off and on again to change dpi settings, you don't have to restart the computer completely.
Maybe a little less annoying :)

Setting it like this seems to have worked for me

<root>
<editor>
<stack value="" show="false" />
</editor>
<player>
<mouseControls value="false" />
</player>
<rendering>
<fullscreen value="false" />
<postProcessing value="true" />
<windowSize value="1280 768" />
</rendering>
<sound>
<musicVolume value="0.7" />
<sfxVolume value="0.7" />
</sound>
<versionInfo>
<build value="de8fc73" />
<version value="1.1" />
</versionInfo>
</root>
