i had to come back to this because its so silly, all xbox game studio games are on xbox game pass. they own them so the game pass pays for it. im not sure how you didnt figure this out already yourself

Playground Games is the actual developer, and they’re a first-party studio under Xbox Game Studios. Yes, Microsoft takes a share as the publisher and platform holder, but revenue from purchases and Game Pass funding is allocated to the studio itself, paying the developers, funding ongoing support, and financing future projects. It’s not some black hole where the money disappears “to Xbox” and never reaches the people who made the game.
