About zombie stuff: Devs said nothing about it in the last year. Last statement was in the pinned thread.
About coop and mp: months ago, Devs talked about a possible standalone expansion but there was a big "maybe" in the statement. Basically an mp mode will require an extensive re code of the game.
Next, they made a poll and there wasn't a majority of preferences for mp.
In every case, please wait a Dev's reply for an official response.
Personal note: Steam is already full of zombie survival games. There was an invasion since 2012... Instead there is a penury of Swat themed games.
but yes, i think in the store is or atleast has been written that multiplayer and / or coop are expected to come.. i dont mind paying for a stand alone neither
The problem is that Devs should spend months and months only to re make the same game without adding nothing except mp and in the same time not developing anything of new.
Personal note: can't wait for the announcement of 17th January. Probably in DK2 we will see several new gameplay mechanics and maybe mp since day one. (I repeat: personal speculation. No official info.)
im just crying for myself because that definitly would be cool.
and i dont mind paying for (nearly) any other full game by same devs, no questions asked :)
A p2p approach has its problems too: what if host lags? If disconnect?
Also: cheaters, troll, bad language, reports, bans.... All things that arrive with mp.
What about the co-op? I felt sure that was something that was being looked into seriously.
I'm not bothered about PvP, it wouldn't fit properly in a game like this, and zombie are overdone, I said myself I didn't care if it made it in, as there is always the breach and clear game to show you how badly zombies fit into this genre.
Co-op is my weak spot though; I love a good co-op, in something a bit different to 4-player shooter or ARPG.
I think it could be implemented here pretty well, and be good fun.
If it's something you are looking at for the sequel, that's fine, just good to know one way or the other
However, there's still some risk and there's still lots of dev to put in, so in the end we chose not to do it so far. The announcement on the 17th won't be about zombies :)
Now, for coop, we'll just have to wait :) Keep in mind that coop depends on Single Player.
Just have to say, along with Klei, you're one of the best early access developers I have had dealings with, and the game is great fun, can't wait for the next one, good luck with it
Most would have realised that :P
Except it was not even close to april when I heard about it, and it wasn't from "official" sources at first, just from people on here asking for it and others saying it was announced as coming. Then I saw the announcement, but obviously hadn't noticed the date.
I am glad to be honest, that zombies isn't going to be a thing, because not only are zombies way over-used in every medium now, they also wouldn't fit this game at all, despite what a lot of people say
I agree completely, this game didn't need or want zombies.
I only asked about it because I had heard about it, and since the sequel has been announced I was just wondering what work was going to continue to be done here.
