Mass Effect 2 (2010)

Mass Effect 2 (2010)

Why do I need an EA account now?
I got a new hard drive for my PC a couple weeks ago. I downloaded Mass Effect 2 (2010), which was in my library because II had purchased it several years ago, and started a new game. I recruited all of the crew except for Samara and Legion. But this evening, when I tried to log in, I got notified that I had to log in with my EA account. Apparently, I had created the account when I originally bought the game (I got the response that an account existed with my email).
I couldn't remember my password so requested one be sent to my personal email and my family email. No email has arrived and my only on-screen option is New Game (Resume option is gone). I'm a little bit bummed out to start a new game.
Any help?

Install Mass Effect 2 (2010) instead of Mass Effect (2010) Edition to avoid Origin.
Account is optional on original.

I downloaded both Mass Effect 2 (2010) and Mass Effect 2 (2010) Edition. I have been running Mass Effect 2 (2010) - not Mass Effect 2 (2010) Edition. Everything had been running fine then yesterday it asked (demanded?) I get an EA account.

The original Mass Effect (2010) was sold separate from all the DLCs.

Originally, all 23 DLCs were being sold for Bioware points (which you had to buy with regular money first in order to get the DLC).

If you want to play just the base game without all the DLC you certainly should not need to login into an EA account -- the game should work just fine. You only need to login with your EA account to authorize the DLC content which for the original game is installed separately and manually.

That said, EA has recently released an updated version of Mass Effect 2 (2010 Edition) which now contains and automatically installs all the DLC but requires Origin or EA App to run.

As for your password reset, you can only request it to the email account you used to register the account. If you aren't getting the email check your spam folder and if that doesn't work try contacting EA support.
