I don't recall the chapter but there a long hallway and two huge pipes to the left, the top one is a gas line. I go down a ways, and suddenly there is a huge explosion behind me, which I need to run away from.

If I run towards the large motorized closing door in front of me, and then immediately hang to the right in the little cubbyhole and DON'T go through the closing door, I will be safe. The fireball passes me on the left and then the large door closes in front of me.

Except now apparently I'm stuck in this long tunnel after the fire goes out, and no way to open the large door.

I know the correct solution, but this is not it, and as far as I can tell, there is no way to proceed if I do this.
