Weird AMD driver freakouts at random
There was a time when I had played this game with zero issues on a first playthrough. This has changed over the past couple of years for quite a few games (but not ALL games!).

At random while playing INFRA, my monitors will freeze to a solid color and shortly after to repeating the last heard sound. The desktop can't recover its view and the only way to get the computer back to responding to me is a power button shutdown. This has occurred on only a select few VERY particular games that I know and I am wondering if there just is any Radeon driver that can play this game (and the others) with no problem at all.

I am running on:
Windows 10 64 bit
AMD RX 580 2048SP Adrenalin version 24.9.1
AMD Ryzen 5 2600
16 GB of RAM.

Games impacted:
INFRA
Fallout New Vegas: Honest Hearts (the last quest resolving the DLC)
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Single Player
Jabroni Brawl Episode 3
L4D2 carnival standoff area (crashed near the very end.)

EDIT: Issue resolved, switching to Vulkan for rendering has stopped the problem from occurring. I just need a way to apply this to games like Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.

Some friends and I have identified this as a bug in AMD's current driver for a certain chipset. Almost all the reports originate with one of the Fallout games, but as you've found it affects other games too. The fix can be made only by AMD, so look for a new driver soon.

Which driver version are you on? For me, the game won't even launch. Just throws a black screen then it minimizes itself and can't be interacted with forcing me to kill the process in task manager.

System Specs:
Resolution: 3440x1440, 21:9
Windows 11 23H2 (22631.3155)
CPU: Ryzen7 7700x @ Stock Speeds
GPU: AMD RX 6800XT (Driver ver. 24.2.1)
Memory: 32gb
Mobo: Asus Strix B650E

Similar thing happened to me with an AMD card — had to do a power button shutdown during the water treatment plant level. Thankfully it only happened once so far.

I have found a solution to this issue, using -vulkan in the launch options I haven't had a single solid color crash for at least every source game on this list, I still need a solution for Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.
