I'm sort of confused about the ending where the ceiling of the room collapses. Does the flashing red button open some kind of flood gates, because it seems to have no purpose in the actual logistics of the game, other than to trigger the end of Part 1. I understand it's there to give you a chance to read through the items in the control room but it dosen't really make sense if there's no explanation for it.
