can't seem to change models without game crashes
hey.

I've been trying to replace the camera with the phone. Model wise it works. Just used portal 2's HLMV to look at the model as i can't get Infra's HLMV to load at all.

Yet, when i pack up a pak01_dir.vpk (with portal2's vpk.exe or hl2's as i've read somewhere) the game just crashes when i try to load any map other than the intro. probably because the intro doesn't spawn the camera viewmodel.

I've been modding source engine for years, so i know how this stuff works, but for some reason, infra is different.

Does anyone have any idea why it might not work?

Okay. so i figured it out. It's unusual to say the least.

Usually you edit the gameinfo.txt file to make a new surrogate folder. Fooling the game into thinking you got a new update or dlc.
Turns out infra has a set "infra_dlc1" folder, even tho the gameinfo doesn't list it.
Now the issue was editing the gameinfo.txt. just touching it breaks the game.
So just make the dlc1 folder and slap the new pak01_dir there. Strange :s
