That's only the DLC, anyway. And the game is 67% off to celebrate the launch.
How did you guess?
Is it the mere fact she's even referenced? A slight nod to all that crap? Or is anything with even a vague mention of her permanently tainted forever?
Quite simply, I will never buy a game which makes a political viewpoint known that sensible and moderate gamers are not welcome to play it.
So... Yes. That kind of taint doesn't 'wash off'.
I'm sure plenty of people share your stance. It's why this is such a debacle as is. But I'm sure plenty of people are "sensible and moderate" enough to set that aside for a game that features a reference as an optional, alternative skin that is only available within additional content that costs additional money.
The base game has no such references.
Regardless, I think it's easy to see where the objections come from. Even if it is only in DLC, even if it is an optional character, the developer has implicitly taken a political stance on a very divisive issue. They've essentially given sponsorship to a personality whose opinions some find offensive and disagreeable.
Unless a game is meant to be political as a central theme, which this one isn't, then I view that its in poor taste to include such things in a game. I'm sure the developer knew they would offend some with this design decision, I'm sure they didn't think any sales lost from it would be significant, and I'm sure they felt good about supporting a viewpoint that they agree with.
I strongly support their right to express any views they choose to in any of their games. I also support the right of consumers to not purchase software that they feel supports views that conflict with their values and beliefs. Even though I came here to see if it supported controllers that weren't Xbox, the information from this thread is enough to make me pass on purchasing this game.
We included the small reference to Anita in order to honestly represent our influences to our audience. Anita's work has been a huge help to us with our character designs, an essential factor in why the game is a success. We respect your right to avoid purchasing the game if this offends you :)
