my points are valid. this game is atrocious. they killed off joel. what in the stinky hell were they thinking when they wrote that?
i can say nice things about this game, btw.
its gorgeous. on a technical level its absolutely stunning. the visuals and the optimisation are bar non some of the best ever.
but dear god, lord jesus above, why kill off joel as such? drunkmann sure had his finger up his butt when he made that decision.
Or should they have just perpetuated the fantasy and pretended there wouldn't be consequences for all the killing he did to feed that fantasy? They showed nothing BUT consequences for Joel's actions in Part I from his rep as a smuggler to all the faction fights.
People that choose to play Part II need to just open their eyes first and get a grip on reality.
God forbid a piece of art has a message! Whatever shall we do!
Learn to be entertained by the sense of grief it gives you. It lightens up a whole world.
Here's 5 guns with 3 bullets each. You carry a backpack but max out at a single magazine and won't carry any more ammo? Why?
And what's up with the whole Synagogue section filled with speeches about being Jewish? And then later on the pride flags? Most buildings are literally falling apart, but decades later pride flags are still flying?
It's so tiresome. Whatever you personal beliefs are don't inject them into games. The first game was pretty woke but it didn't go out of his way to push the agenda down your throat. The game is just in your face about it.
Even worse:
Joel seemed unable to find any useful close combat weapon until the very end and had to make ridiculous shivs from scrap. When all the world must be full with stainless steel knives, tool shops and whatnot, lol. Close combat weapons like axes, hatchets, (combat/hunting)knives would be everybodies minimal equipment, but Joel cannot do it... . Much, much better in TLOU Part 2.
Story:
The hospital at the end as masterpiece? Really? How that went down was dumb as F****.
The Fireflies, especially with Marlene as leader had not a single brain cell between them. Joel should just got a bullet in his head when it became clear they had to kill Ellie for the cure. At the latest they should have shot him in the face in Marlenes office :). The great Joel would have had an even worse death than he had in Part 2. Telling him to the face "we have to kill your surrogate kid" and then let him walk, yeah, brillant move, especially since Marlene knew his past (with Sarah) and what he was capable of. Really, a "masterpiece in storytelling", lol.
But no..., we must have a stupid shootout with a forced decision (sacrifice Ellie or the world and by that himself).
Btw: Joels death. How it was done in Part 2 was quite convincing. Anybody could have died like that, nobody would expect the person you just saved to shoot your legs off :).
Anyway: Both games had great weaknesses in the storytelling, so that is an even for me. I can ignore some colorful flags or whatever. I do not mind. Seeing it or hearing it does not make me forget how to think on my own you know. It should be the same for you, lol :).
Mechanics and gameplay were on a whole another level in TLOU part 2.
I do not get why this seems so difficult for some people :). It is a classic story about violence and its consequences. That never ends well. When there is a kid in such a story it is basically mandatory to kill the parent figure so that the kid can go on a rampage and discover for themselves, that violence does nobody any good in the long term. Even if there is nobody else left you have to live with yourself after all :).
I never liked Joel much as a character, the killing scene itself was fine. Even a spec ops guy can die like that when he does not see it coming, which is very unlikely the way it was written. The death of Joel was MUCH more convincing than the hospitral scene with Marlene in TLOU part 1.
Cant even get away from Bigots in single player games nowadays, literally dozens of hours of this game with so called "normal" relationships and other so called "normal" stuff and your big complaint is that for 10
