Could the Wrack Engine's be release like the Build Engine ?
Hello ! :)

I love the Build Engine, but unfortunately, I was born too late to use it. It doesn't work on newer systems. So I wanted to know if "Rack Engine" could kind of replace the Build Engine ? And if yes, could it be release to the public for free or for money ?

And also give some tutorial to tell us how to use it.

Have a nice day !

Hm, it's an interesting idea, but I don't think it has much chance of success. There are a lot of games/tools/engines out there that people already use for modding, so releasing our engine is unlikely to garner a lot of interest. Older mod-friendly engines like Build and the Doom engine (SORRY, IDTECHWHATEVER) already have an established audience thanks to the popular games made on those engines, which is why they're still around to some degree despite there being other alternatives.

Wish there was a chance for it to work, but don't see it happening.

Wrack is not very famous, not represented and that sucks because even if the game is short, doesn't have a MP or Coop Mode (that would have been cool), it's still awesome and very fun to play.

I hope that Starfall will be more famous than Wrack, even if I don't really like the tower defense style that you want to add in.

Then maybe explain how to create a "new game" from the Wrack files. Tell us wich software we need to use, I would like to try making a Duke MOD.

Have a nice day !

You can use WrackEd, the map editor that comes with Wrack, to make the maps. As far as general mods go, you can basically make custom zip files that have all the modded files and graphics and things. There's a tutorial video here:

So i can put my own 3d models in the game?
Carnevil  [developer] 22 Dec, 2016 @ 7:09pm
Yes. The model format is .x, which is the native DirectX format. There are plugins for 3DS and other modeling programs that will allow you to export to that format.
