This game had so much potential but is too inconsistent
When I first started it I was really pleasently surprised how good the movement felt, the fast paced combat is really nice and the gory effects when killing some humanoid enemies are a nice little extra touch.

And with a foundation layed out like that and the game clearly drawing inspiration from legendary 90's shooters like Doom I thought I'd be in for a hell of a ride.
And whenever the combat shines to its fullest it really evokes that sweet, sweet 90's nostalgia.

But here's the problem: The combat gets way too few chances to really shine, too many encounters are set up in cheap ways forcing you to take rather cautious attempts at them and sometimes being outright unfair when spiderbots explode right behind you out of nowhere or jumping in your face from an angle you cannot see when running up a ramp.

To make it even worse the game also relies too much and too often on environmental hazards, starting with poison and lava pits and later adding crusher walls, instand dead mines and conveyor belts, and as soon as conveyor belts + instant death mines + crusher walls were used all together, that was the moment where I lost all incentive to play on.

Since I only had one Life left and most bosses are trial and error to figure out their attack patterns instead of relying on players reaction speed. Which brings up another fatal design flaw: The Life system.

When you only have so many Lives to lose and you see bonus stuff behind a wall of red instant kill mines, every sane person would just skip that secret, since the reward is not worth the 100 times worse punishment, so all incentive to explore areas like this is completely lost.

It's really sad, since the fast paced combat, the interesting combo system as well as the even nowadays quite pretty and unique cel shading graphics really are strong points for this game, but everything else is completely sabotaging this premise and sapping out the fun.

Definitely hear you. You're certainly not the only one with those concerns. I can't say too much right now, but we're low-key working on something that ought to address the vast majority of the issues you've raised - and then some.

can you help me, please, the game crashes, i put it on fullscreen and put down the resolution to 800 x 600 or a little bit high and the game crashes, why?

Yeah i agree with that OP, some things of the game should be rebalanced and polished, anyway Wrack is quite enjoyable to play. Thanks Carnevil

I know it's been a while, but any chance I could get you to try out the remake to make sure your concerns have been properly addressed?
