Also most of the races are so short by the time you have limped back to the pits, done you stop, and got back out, you will be far too far behind to catch up (unless i am mistaken and most of online races are very long)
The best thing you can do is to avoid the rammers and crashers. It is hard but it could be done in grid 1 (iv yet to play multi in GAS)
I certainly dont want this game bogged down by pitstops!
There is strategy in making your tyres last, but adding that extra element in deciding whether to go hard and lose time on a pitstop, or make some time up with no pitstop and go a bit more cautiously on the tyres would be very fun.
As for every other mode, there is no time for it. If you get damage the time it takes to dawdle round and then repair it would leave you in last place anyway.
Fscking Nascar '99 did that stuff on the Nintendo 64, and Top Gear did refueling back on the SNES, it's not hard omg
Touring: ??? I dont know
Endurance: LOOOOOOOOOOONG races (20 minutes minimum), using pit stops to repair/refuel cars
Open Wheel: Similar to Endurance with pit stops opening up if players decide they want to use x2/x3/x5 or higher race lengths
Tuner: Fine the way it is
Street: Fine the way it is

Also there's another thread that Loki keeps bumping regarding rubberband AI...just have that be a toggle! If i want AI to slow down for me if i'm doing terrible, let that be a handicap/XP penalty! Meanwhile if i want the AI to keep up with me if i'm doing good, let that be an XP bonus!

What do these games have in common? They're all arcade, and they all don't have pit stops. Are you implying that ALL of these games have the fun sucked out of them because they don't have pits, where they're not needed?
Aye, edit because I'm dumb. I only played Top Gear Overdrive (Beautiful game, btw) and Rally, and they didn't have pits. I have no clue about the SNES version(s).
Also, to add, you cannot pit and gain time in endurance. In 7 minutes, it just isn't possible. Trust me, I look at lap times, and a ~20-25 second pitstop may make you feel like you're going to make up places, but you're really not.
My idea of endurance races are hour long races, 8 hour long races, or longer. I dont even know if you have that option to go that long, but without pit stops you surely cannot. I also stated the idea was not gain time, but that the game was boring after your lost a wheel and are waiting around for the match to finish.
Ive lost a tire 3 races in a row from some guy running into me and me then hitting a wall. Instead of me running the rest of the match on rims or parking essentially waiting for the match to end. I could rather hit up a pit stop, and at least try to re-work the corners of that track (even though i might be in last place). That would be more fun than waiting for the match to end.
Even if people like you dislike having pit stops, the devs could add it along with an option to disable it for your needs. Then everyone is happy. The decision the devs make to add pit stops or not would be a major decision factor on whether i buy another grid game.
There are ways to avoid accidents, even if you have to preemptively flashback before the guy runs into you. Play smart, and you'll have a more decent experience.
I hate the flashbacks in grid. Ive set my lobbies to 0 flashbacks. It just seems like cheating and would make the game way too unrealistic. I always forget about flashbacks anyways when i get into an accident.
Maybe grid series is too arcady for me then. Maybe i am thinking of a sim racer.
