How I Fixed My Achievements (Win 10)

All my system drivers are recent as of this writing.

1. I ran the game as administrator through the properties menu on the .exe
2. I ran the game in Compatibility Mode for Windows Vista Service Pack 2.
3. I ran the game in Windowed Mode by selecting it from the in-game Options Menu. Without windowed mode I wasn't having any success.
4. I did NOT turn off the Steam Overlay.

With this setup Shift+Tab wouldn't bring up the Steam Overlay, but Achievements would pop in the bottom right of the screen like always; whenever I saved the game, they would stop visually popping up, but would mark as complete on my Steam Library. Achievements worked launching straight from Steam, and straight from the .exe.

Compatibility mode with Windows 7 did not work. Windows 8.1 did not work. I did not try Vista without service packs or Vista with Service Pack 1. I did not try Windows XP or older operating systems, but it's worth a shot if Vista doesn't work for you.

Edit: A step I didn't take but that has been suggested below is to completely turn off your antivirus software while NOT turning on Windowed Mode. I cannot vouch for this as I did not do anything to my Anti-Virus.

Edit 2: It's been suggested that setting the language and subtitles to English will help, too.

Here's hoping this helps some of you with 100%.

This helps, thx. But as say Schwarzstorch, instead of windowed mode i turn off my antivirus. Otherwise it did not work.
And one more thing to your list. Achievements only work with english lenguage text and subtitles . With any other languages they did not work.

I don't have a Windows 7 to run any tests on, but try setting the .exe to Compatibility Mode for Windows Vista. Try all the service packs you can.

The unfortunate thing about the achievements being broken is you won't know if they're fixed until you actually meet the requirements for one, because it'll either pop up or it won't. There's no way of knowing beforehand. Make a save before an easy achievement, like the one with the cat on the record player.

I'll say again, achievements only showed up for me until the first time I saved each time I launched the game, but they'd still unlock behind the scenes. If you want to see your achievements pop up, you can load saves upon launching the game, but after you save they won't visually pop up.

Thank you! It helped! Many different tried, to no avail. With your advice worked
Windows 7, i ran the game in Compatibility Mode for Windows Vista Service Pack 2, windowed mode, language to English, subtitles to Russian. Achievements unlocked 100%.

Thanks, I have windows 10 and I just did steps 2 & 3 and restarted the game so that I'd get all the achievements. Running full screen seems to be really buggy, windowed mode seems to function much better and not freeze.

Just runing the game as Administrator did the trick for me ... however the Steam in game overlay doesn't work but the achievements work fine .

Thank you for the tips. On Win7 it works on windowed mode and with Compatibility Mode set for Vista SP2.

Edit: It seems to work fine fullscreen.

I don't know if someone still need help but, I tried this way and it work for a bit.
Everytime i restart my pc achievements stop to show up. If u run in this problem try verify integrity of game files. I solved the problem this way :)
Off course you need to run as administrator and ran the game in compatibility mode for Windows Vista SP2 everytime you start the game.

The problem with the overlay and display of achievements on Win10 Pro x64 solved as follows:
The Steam application and the game application must be provided with admin rights and transferred to Win8 compatible mode (in my case, you can try with other versions). Apps must be restarted. After that, the steam overlay will become available and the achievements in the game will be displayed (all the achievements fell out as expected without a hitch).

PS
After playing game, do not forget to turn off compatibility in Steam.exe, otherwise there may be problems with other games (when you first change compatibility, Steam warns about this).

Проблему с оверлеем и отображением ачивок на Win10 Pro x64 решал так:
Приложение стима и приложение игры необходимо снабдить админскими правами и перевести в режим совместимсти с Win8 (в моем случае). После этого станет доступен оверлей стим и будут отображаться ачивки в игре (все ачивки выпадали как положено без сучка и задоринки).

ЗЫ
После игры не забудте отключить совместимость у Steam.exe, иначе могут возникнуть проблемы с другими играми (при первом изменении совместимости стим об этом предупреждает).
