"Challenging puzzles" what does it mean?
do they not realize that a big reason whjy the genre is dying is because of puzzles which takes too much time.
I rather play something else then get stuck in a game.
And yes, I have finished every Broken Sword game and Monkey Island - im not a dummy.

I totally agree. We're here to have fun. I've started a guide for the most common sticking points in 1954: Alcatraz.

Im not asking for a dummy version or puzzle made for kids, all im saying is a huge reason why the genre is dying is because people were fed up getting stuck at very tough puzzles.
There is too many games out there that gives enjoyment fast, thats why games like COD sells so much, you can play it anytime and have fun constantly.

If the story is there, an adventure game can have tough puzzles but if the story and the game lenght isnt there adding tough puzzles is just hurting the game.

Somehow I'm not convinced a 'dying genre' would have given us games of the caliber of the Deponia trilogy, Night of the Rabbit, Primordia or Resonance to name but a few in the last couple of years.

The genre is certainly not dying. Have a look at many different games at www.adventuregamers.com.

Since when is the point'n'click adventure genre dieing? They've actually made a huge comeback in recent years with some big names putting out some fantastic games. I don't think Daedalic and other companies would be making so many of these games if they weren't selling well.

I don't mind tough puzzles as long as they are fair. When I eventually solve a puzzle (or on occasion look at a walkthrough) I should be thinking to myself "of course, why didn't I think of that". It's the puzzles whose solutions have me thinking "huh" that are no fun.

Also, no mazes like I'm currently struggling with in Memoria. Those should be banned from adventure games unless they are small and purely puzzle based.

I don't know what about "genre is dying" thing, I like such games and buy them constantly. Indeed, I have not very much free time for solvind every puzzle by myself s I look at a walkthrough often enough. But genre is not dying, I think, games are still publishing. Broken Age was pretty nice.

I think that what he really meant to say was the adventure genre has fallen from its pedestal. Infocom and Sierra were once the biggest developers in the industry.
