The autosave and selective restore features of The Talos Principle are very limited. It is organized by sigil count not meaningful savegame names and only has a history of 10 sigils back. With large maps involving many sigils this usually proves insufficient to allow users to return to the desired restore point. Because of these limitations I created a group of command line scripts to provide Better Save and Restore features. To save your current game state, exit the game, open a terminal and type "TalosSave YourGameState" on the command line. Then to get back to that game state type "TalosRestore YourGameState" on the command line, and restart The Talos Principle and use the "Continue" option. There is also a TalosRemove and TalosList script to help manage and maintain your savegame library.
