Cant find Mercurios money

Just started playing VTMB for the first time now with the unofficial patch. Trying to do the mercurio quest but cant find his money, I opened the vent at the beach house and found the box there but its empty.
Already tried quitting and coming back, quitting and reloading a save before going into the beachouse map but nothing worked.

you have to start a new game if you patched it mid-way of a playthrough
also check main menu options to see if the patch actually works

This is a bug. Also raise your investigation to at least 1.
Investigation is a completely useless skill aside from this small thing btw

Its a brand new playthrough, and I checked the main menu, the patch is working

I did a few tries with investigation at level 1, no change, money is still gone
