There's a PDA entry in BZ that said Alterra's stock value dropped when they announced the loss of the Aurora but then it rebounded with the news there was a lone survivor and a rescue mission was underway.

Alterra is a trans-gov megacorp so even small fluctuations to their stock price could probably be measured in the tens of trillions (if not hundreds).

Ryley could argue that just by being alive and rescued he has increased the value of the company significantly!!

You don't have to. Make sure you have an accomplice staring at Alterra's planet sized quantum computer. That computer handles all the calculations, but if someone looks at it, it shuts down and needs to be rebooted over and over again if someone keeps looking at it.
